Google announces new choice screens for search and browser in Europe

Google has made some big changes to its search and browser in Europe. The changes are because of the EU Digital Markets Act. The company said it will give more choice and information to users in Europe by showing more choice screens when users set up an Android device or use a browser.

The choice screens will let users choose their favorite search engine and browser from a list of options at the initial setup. Google said the choice screens are based on user research and testing, as well as feedback from the industry.

Search Choice Screen

The search choice screen will only be shown on Android devices that have the Google Search app and the Search box on the home screen. Users can change their search engine at any time from the device settings.

Browser Choice Screen

The Browser Choice Screen will be shown on phones and tablets in the EEA that have Chrome as the default browser. This is because of an agreement between Google and its partners.

The new choice screens will start appearing in the next few weeks on Android devices. These screens will also come soon on Chrome for desktop and iOS devices.
