Galaxy Z Flip 6 vs Galaxy Z Flip 5: A closer look at differences and improvements [Renders]

Samsung is going to launch two new foldables this year – the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6. Recently, we saw some glimpses into the design of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 through renders. Now, @Onleaks is back with new high-quality renders that show significant improvements and differences between the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the successor to 2023’s Galaxy Z Flip 5. The Flip 5 received positive reviews for its compact form factor, smooth display, and durable hinge. Below you can check what’s new coming with Galaxy Z Flip 6 through renders.

Camera Module

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has bigger and thicker camera lenses than the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which could indicate a better camera system. Some reports suggest that the Flip 6 could have a 50MP primary camera, which would be a significant upgrade from the 12MP camera on the Flip 5. The Flip 6 also has a different flash module, which could improve low-light photography.

Hinge Covering

The Flip 6 has a thinner metallic covering over the hinge, which could mean a more refined and elegant design. However, we do not know yet if the hinge mechanism has been improved or not.

Edges

The Flip 6 has a more boxy shape than the Flip 5, which has rounded edges. This could make the Flip 6 look more modern and sleek, as well as easier to grip and hold. The Flip 6 also has two microphones at the top frame, a larger front earpiece, and slimmer volume and power buttons.

Samsung seems to have taken a conservative approach to the Galaxy Z Flip 6, keeping the overall design similar to the Flip 5. However, this could also help the company establish its identity and brand recognition in the foldable market, as Apple and Google have done with their smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6 could still offer some subtle but significant improvements over the Flip 5, especially in the camera department. We will have to wait and see for the Galaxy Unpacked event in July.
