South Korea’s court recently freed Samsung Chairman Lee from charges of fraud. Days after the case dismissal, Samsung Lee resumed its overseas business visits with a trip to the Middle East.

Samsung Elec’s Executive Chairman Lee departed from Gimpo Airport to travel to UAE and other Middle Eastern countries, where he is anticipated to inspect the Barakah nuclear power plant construction.

Korean media assumes that Lee is likely to focus on network building. Previously, he toured the mountain tunnel construction site for the Neom City project in Saudi Arabia, in which Samsung C&T is participating.

Lee is also expected to visit Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, with Samsung C&T’s construction division recently completing the Merdeka 118 building in Kuala Lumpur, the second-tallest building in the world.

Back in December 2022, Lee visited the UAE to inspect the Barakah nuclear power plant site. Since the project began in 2015, the UAE’s fourth reactor was completed last May, with plans for full operation this year.

Samsung Galaxy A42 software updates

Samsung has officially announced that the Galaxy A42 5G, launched in 2020, will no longer receive software updates. The device has now completed its update cycle according to Samsung’s policy. It means the phone will not receive any new software updates.

The Galaxy A42 5G smartphone is currently running Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1. It launched pre-installed with Android 10 and was a popular choice in Samsung’s budget-friendly A-series, known for its long battery life and amazing camera.

The company recently revealed details of the December 2024 security patch along with the revised list of the software update plan for Galaxy devices. Through this list, Samsung has officially announced the discontinuation of updates for the Galaxy A42.

While the end of software updates might sound concerning, the Galaxy A42 will still be safe to use. The phone will continue to receive Google Play system updates, which include important fixes. This will help ensure the phone stays secure and compatible with popular apps, like banking apps, even though it won’t get the latest Android features.

Users who want the latest features and software updates may want to consider upgrading to newer phones including Galaxy A16, Galaxy A25, Galaxy A35, and Galaxy A55.

Although the Samsung Galaxy A42 will no longer receive updates, it will continue to work normally for basic tasks. So, if you’re happy with its current performance and don’t mind using an older Android version, the A42 can still be a reliable device for everyday use.

We are on the 3rd day of December 2024, and Samsung has officially announced the details of the security patch for Galaxy devices for the last month of the year. This patch improves the system’s security and stability to enhance the overall experience.

According to the scope page, the December 2024 security patch addresses more than 45 security vulnerabilities. It includes patches for both Google and Samsung-specific issues, helping to protect devices from threats.

Google patches in this update cover six critical vulnerabilities and 28 high-level ones. There is also 1 issue that was previously fixed in earlier updates and another that is not applicable to Samsung devices.

In addition to the Google patches, Samsung has addressed 2 high-level vulnerabilities in its semiconductor products. Along with these fixes, Samsung has also provided 8 patches under its Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items. These focus on issues with the Theme Center, Galaxy Watch Bluetooth, SmartSwitch, and Dex Mode.

Although Samsung has not yet begun rolling out the December 2024 security patch to Galaxy devices, it will be available soon to all eligible devices.
