Samsung tops 2023 India smartphone market, for the 1st time since 2017
Counterpoint Research has now released the latest data on the Indian smartphone market. The new report discloses the sales performance of the Indian smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2023 and the full year.
According to Counterpoint Research, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Indian smartphone shipments increased by 25% year-on-year, marking the first rebound in the smartphone industry after a year-long decline.

Looking at the entire year, Samsung ranked first in the Indian smartphone market with a market share of 18%. Strong sales of the Galaxy A series, active offline marketing, and a focus on the high-end market help Samsung lead the country’s smartphone market.
Vivo ranked second with a 17% share and led the affordable high-end segment in 2023, due to the offline vivo V29 series and the online model T series. Xiaomi slipped to third place in 2023 but grabbed the top spot in the fourth quarter of 2023, helped by the launch of 5G phones in the affordable segment and offline expansion.
It is worth mentioning that the fourth and fifth places are realme and OPPO. In particular, OPPO’s sales will surpass Samsung and become number one. Besides, OnePlus, Google, Lava, Motorola, and Transsion (Tecno) also achieved significant growth in 2023.

One UI 6.1.1 update for the Galaxy Tab S9 series can be identified through PDA versions ending with BXHB in Canada. However, users in the US along with several other countries are still waiting for this update. It is a gradual rollout so it may take some days to reach all models.

Other Samsung Galaxy device users, including those with the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy S23 FE, are still waiting for the One UI 6.1.1 update. However, it was scheduled to roll out for these devices on September 17 in Canada.
