3nm chip tech requires Samsung attention to catch AI boom

It has been reported that Samsung’s 4nm yield has reached 75%. However, as the transition to 3nm is rapidly progressing, especially in AI semiconductors, the company is in a situation where it has to focus on securing 3nmyield without any time to catch its breath.
Due to the characteristics of AI semiconductors that require high performance and low power, 3nm process conversion is necessary. Samsung Foundry’s 3nm process based on its foundry uses 16% and 45% less semiconductor area and 45% less power, respectively while performance is 23% higher.
3nm AI chips
Qualcomm and Nvidia announced the launch of new chips with significantly enhanced AI performance next year. Qualcomm recently announced that it has changed the design of its mobile chip to an on-device AI type that implements AI functions in the device itself.
