YouTube Music bringing gradient background to Now Playing screen

Published

on

YouTube Music is testing a new look for its Now Playing screen. The new design uses a gradient background that changes color based on the album art. The background is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top.

The new background makes the white buttons for play, pause, skip, shuffle, and repeat more visible. The sheet has been removed for Up Next, Lyrics, and Related as well.

The new design also removes the pull tab indicator that shows you can swipe up to open the queue. You can still swipe up to see the songs that are coming up next.

The gradient Now Playing design is not available for everyone yet. YouTube Music is still testing it with some users on Android. It is not clear when it will be rolled out to everyone. The new design aims to make the Now Playing screen more colorful and user-friendly.
