Samsung Galaxy A14 One UI 5.1 Update

Samsung is developing the next lineup of Galaxy A series smartphones. This year, the Galaxy A14 became Samsung’s best-selling smartphone internationally. Well, a new input suggests that the Galaxy A14’s sequel — Galaxy A15 — will sport sAMOLED display.

According to TheElec, Samsung’s upcoming affordable smartphone — Galaxy A15 — will have OLED (sAMOLED) display. If Samsung applies rigid OLED to the Galaxy A15, it will become the first model among the Galaxy A1 series to introduce OLED panel.

It is expected to help improve the utilization rate of Samsung Display’s A2 rigid OLED line, which has seen a decline in utilization rate. This year, the company capped the OLED installation to the Galaxy A24, while next year’s Galaxy A1 series will also be featured with advanced panels.

Rigid OLED is mainly used in mid to low-priced smartphones such as the Galaxy A series. However, flexible OLED, which uses a polyimide (PI) substrate, is mainly used in high-end smartphones such as the Galaxy S series and Apple’s iPhone.

Samsung Display is expected to produce rigid OLED for the Galaxy A15 as early as the fourth quarter. As the company’s Galaxy A15 production volume is currently high, it is expected to help improve the operation rate of the A2 rigid OLED line.

Samsung Paris Olympic 2024

Samsung is under threat from triple fronts including OLED, strikes, and espionage. China’s BOE could surpass Samsung D by 2028, Indian workers are on strike at production fab demanding a wage increase, and an ex-exec arrested in an espionage case.

BOE’s OLED ambitions: Threat to Samsung’s dominance

By 2028, Chinese display maker BOE could surpass Samsung Display due to its 8.6-generation IT OLED production line (B16). China’s share of global display production capacity is expected to rise from 68% in 2023 to 74% in 2028.

Samsung’s Indian operations hit by strikes

Samsung workers of the Sriperumbudur, Chennai plant are demanding higher wages through their labor union. It is being reported that the union refused to show up for work after negotiations with the management hit a snag.

Ex-Samsung exec arrested in massive espionage case

An ex-Samsung executive has been arrested, Seoul Metropolitan Police announced yesterday. The executive is arrested alongside his colleague for allegedly stealing semiconductor technology to establish a company in China.

A police official stated, “This case has shaken the foundation of economic security by attempting to produce semiconductors with domestic technology through direct collaboration between a former executive of a domestic semiconductor company and a local Chinese government, leading to a potential weakening of national competitiveness.”

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could be ‘featherlight’ iPhone 16 Pro Max killer

One UI 7.1

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra could be 8 grams lighter than the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max. The next Galaxy S Ultra could launch in January next year. However, the rumors about the next flagship are intensifying after yesterday’s Apple Event.

According to Ice Universe, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra would weigh 219 grams. It’s a sharp reduction of approximately 7-8 grams than the S24 Ultra. Notably, Apple’s recently launched iPhone 16 Pro Max weighs 227 grams.

In smartphones, the reduction of even a single gram requires a lot of engineering. Despite bringing a 5000mAh battery, the S25 Ultra is lightweight. It aligns with Samsung’s commitment to continuously improve the Galaxy experience.

Galaxy S Ultra weight over the years:

  • Galaxy S24 Ultra: 232 grams
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra: 233 grams
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra: 228 grams
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra: 227 grams

The S25 Ultra is said to ditch angular frame design as well as sharp corners. The frame appearance is said to be inspired by the Galaxy Note 7. The S Pen slot will also be there, still bringing a weight reduction worth welcoming.

Since the battery capacity is the same, efficiency might improve with the new chipset. Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will power the S25 series. It uses a custom Oryon CPU, which brings a significant boost to performance and efficiency.

Well, we suggest you take this information as a pinch of salt. Leaked inputs often face modifications during development and testing. Rumor of 50MP 3x Telephoto denied by the same source within a short period of reveal.
