Google Photos copies Samsung Gallery’s Highlight Reel feature

Google Photos has a new feature that lets you create topical “Highlight videos” from your photos and videos. This feature replaces the old “Movie” maker that had eight presets. The new feature is more flexible and powerful than the previous one.

You can access the Highlight Videos feature by tapping the “plus” icon next to Sharing and choosing “Highlight video”. You can then search for people, places, and activities you want to include in your video. Google Photos will use AI to select the best content and add music to it. You can also manually select photos from the bottom.

After creating the video, you can edit it by rearranging and trimming clips and changing the music. The video will have either landscape or portrait orientation, depending on most of your content. The feature is available on Google Photos for Android and iOS.

This feature is similar to the Highlight Reel feature that Samsung has long offered, which creates a reel with videos and photos. It also provides many features for editing this highlight reel.
