Samsung and LG in epic battle for OLED monitor supremacy as demand soars

Samsung Display and LG Display are locked in a fierce war for supremacy in manufacturing OLED panels for monitor amid booming sales. As demand sores, the OLED monitors market is expected to break a record 1.1 million units next year.

TrendForce reports that this year’s OLED monitor shipments will reach 508,000 units, up an incredible 323% from 120,000 last year. Meanwhile, the next year’s sales volume is expected to more than double to between 1.12 million and 1.13 million.

The report also reveals that Samsung Display and LG Display will lead the market’s growth by launching mass production next year of 31.5-inch OLED products, such as monitor, along with security a massive boost in sales.

The market for such panels is booming thanks to surging sales of high-quality OLED gaming monitors amid explosive demand for games requiring vivid graphics and fast screen transition.

This trend has prompted Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and the Taiwan-based PC, phone hardware and electronic components maker Asus to release their own OLED gaming monitors.

Samsung TV Plus has introduced a new, free channel named “Letterman TV,” available now in the U.S. and Canada. This channel streams the legendary “Late Show with David Letterman” non-stop. You’ll get to see curated moments and new commentary from Letterman himself.

David Letterman, who hosted the show for 22 years, said, “Now I can watch myself age without looking in the mirror!” Walter Kim, who works with Letterman’s production company, Worldwide Pants, Inc., is excited about the channel. With over 4000 hours of content, the programming will keep changing.

On “Letterman TV,” viewers can watch memorable moments of Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks playing The Newlywed Game, Denzel Washington sharing laughs with Don Rickles and Dave, Will Ferrell’s comedic antics, musical performances by legends like Ringo Starr, unforgettable stunts like Dave working at Taco Bell and jumping into a giant bowl of eggnog. In classic segments, viewers can watch Top Ten lists and “Stupid Tricks”

The Six is now available to play on the Samsung News app in North America and Canada. The company is raising this new format by expanding its interactive gaming experience from Smart TVs directly to Galaxy devices.

Notably, The Fix was launched earlier this year exclusively on Samsung Smart TVs. The Six is available to play on the Samsung News platform, with more ways to play coming soon.
