Pokémon Go is not accessible on One UI 5.1.1 software, issue acknowledged

Published

Pokémon Go

Debuted in late July, Samsung’s One UI 5.1.1 update has been rolled out for several eligible Galaxy devices. The software comes with improved animation and installs a handful of new features. Meanwhile, there’s a bug in One UI 5.1.1 which renders the Pokémon Go inaccessible for some.

Multiple reports (via PiunikaWeb) suggest that some Samsung consumers are no longer able to log in to the Pokémon Go game on their Galaxy device. The game was working well prior to installing One UI 5.1.1, hinting at a lack of support for the game for Samsung’s incremental software upgrade.

As the One UI 5.1.1 is made for tablet and foldable Galaxy devices, there’s no such report from users of the Galaxy S or Note phone users. Verizon calls the August update One UI 5.1.1 but it only includes functional enhancements, without turning the software code to 5.1.1 from 5.1.

Possible fix (temporary):

You can try clearing App Cache and App Data of some Google apps namely Google Play Store, Google Play Services for AR, Google Play Services, and Google. Once done, Reboot your device and try logging in again to the Pokémon Go game on your Galaxy.

In case you are facing such an issue while playing Pokémon Go, you may be happy to know that the Niantic team confirmed that they are already aware of the issue and investigating. Meanwhile, they mention the Galaxy S21 series as the affected device rather than the devices running One UI 5.1.1.

How to exit One UI 7 Beta and Rollback to Stable software

Published

One UI 7 Beta

Samsung has just kickstarted the One UI 7 Beta and many users have joined the Beta and installed the test firmware. If you don’t want to continue the One UI 7 Beta, you can exit the Program and rollback to the Stable software.

Joining the One UI Beta Program allows Samsung users to experience new features before the official release. The build contains bugs and instability concerns. You can simply exit the One UI 7 Beta Program and rollback to the One UI 6.1.

Here are some simple steps to follow in case you want to revert to the previous One UI version:

Step 1: Withdraw from the Beta Program

To officially leave the One UI 7 Beta Program:

  1. Open the Samsung Members app on your device.
  2. Navigate to Settings > One UI Beta Program status > Withdraw.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your withdrawal.

Once you withdraw, you won’t receive further Beta updates. Your device will no longer participate in the Beta Program.

Step 2: Roll Back to the Stable Software

Exiting the Beta Program doesn’t automatically remove the beta software. To revert to the stable release:

  • From phone:
    1. Check for the software update (Settings > Software update > Download and install), a Stable build should be made available to your device.
  • Via PC:
    1. Install the Smart Switch PC Version on your computer.
    2. Connect your device to the PC.
    3. Perform a rollback to the official release version using Smart Switch.

Note: When you roll back from One UI 7 Beta, all the personal data and apps will be removed due to a factory reset. Ensure you back up your data before proceeding.

Signed up for Beta but haven’t installed

If you signed up for the One UI 7 Beta Program but haven’t yet installed the beta firmware, the process is even simpler.

After withdrawing via the Samsung Members app, your device will continue using the current official version without requiring a rollback.
