Samsung Galaxy S22 receives One UI 5.1.1 update with August 2023 patch
After the Galaxy S23, Samsung has started releasing the Android 13-based One UI 5.1.1 update for the Galaxy S22 series, which installs the latest August 2023 security patch. The update is rolling out for locked models on the Verizon network in the US.
One UI 5.1.1 is the latest update that enhances security and performance. It introduces some new features for Contacts and Messages apps. You can now customize the call background for each contact by going to their Contact Details page, tapping on the three dots icon, and selecting Edit call background.
Moreover, you can also easily share images with your contacts using the Messages app. When you select an image, you will see the conversations and contacts tabs at the top of the screen, so you can quickly choose who to send it to.

Samsung’s software is currently available in different products like mobile devices, TVs, and home appliances, each with its own name. Starting in 2025, Samsung will bring all these under the One UI brand to make things easier for users.
One UI has been used for mobile devices since 2018, and now it will also be used for other products. By unifying everything under One UI, Samsung hopes to create a smoother and more consistent experience.
Moreover, Samsung has also promised to offer up to seven years of operating system upgrades for its mobile devices. This means users can expect longer support and updates, keeping their devices running smoothly and safely for years.
