YouTube new features and 3 minutes short

YouTube is adding new features to its Shorts platform, which lets users create and watch short videos. One of the features is a tool that can convert horizontal videos into shorts by adjusting the layout, zoom, and crop.

Users can also use a split screen effect to show different parts of their videos. This tool will be tested in the next few weeks.

Another feature is Collab, which allows users to remix their Shorts with other videos in a side-by-side format. This is available today on iOS and coming soon to Android. Users can also ask and answer questions with a Q&A sticker, and save Shorts to playlists.

YouTube is also experimenting with a vertical live experience that will show live videos in the Shorts feed. Users can scroll through different live streams and watch them on full screen.

With Snapdragon inside, Galaxy S25 has decent chance at 40 million sales

Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus

Samsung’s Snapdragon push across the Galaxy S25 series may unlock a 10% sales boost. The Galaxy S24 series drove Samsung in tough times when the Foundry Division and Memory Business were stuck in revenue generation.

In 2025, Samsung is eyeing the Galaxy S25 series to keep the S24’s sales momentum intact. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that the shipments of the S25 series are projected to rise by around 10% this year, pushed by Snapdragon exclusivity.

The S24 series sold 37 million units in its launch year, 2024. With a 10% shipment boost, the new S25 models would reach 40 million in 2025. The analyst believes 40M is a decent chance, thanks to the Snapdragon chip’s adoption across the lineup.

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 Ultra uses Snapdragon in all regions. The multi-chip strategy was limited to the S24 and S24 Plus models. Therefore, Qualcomm does not have that big room for financial benefit, but a huge $2 billion revenue is said to have been added.

Samsung x Qualcomm

This year’s flagships don’t feature Samsung’s in-house Exynos chipset. The company is globally equipping the Galaxy S25 series with Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. And for Samsung, Qualcomm has tweaked the chip and overclocked the CPU.

Well, the Samsung-Qualcomm alliance is not limited to Snapdragon for Galaxy chipset.

The two companies also worked to boost AI experiences on the S25 series. The new Snapdragon chip has improved on-device AI capabilities. It has also integrated features like Snapdragon Satellite for native messaging via satellite.

Samsung’s new flagships have almost the same camera hardware as their predecessors. Meanwhile, the performance and capabilities tell a different story. The reason is optimization and improvements that are unsung on the specs chart.

The devices deliver improved camera performance, particularly in low-light conditions, due to the integration of the Spatio-Temporal Filter (STF) in the Qualcomm Spectra ISP, enabling sharper low-light video capture at 8K resolution.
