Google Pixel Watch 2 will feature aluminium body, breathable band
Google is reportedly switching to aluminum for the Pixel Watch 2, making it slightly lighter than the current model. The current Pixel Watch weighs 36 grams without a band, while the Fitbit Sense 2 weighs only 26 grams.
The stainless steel Apple Watch Series 8 (41 mm) weighs 42.3 grams, while the aluminum version is 32.2 grams. Google’s switch to aluminum should be negligible, as the stainless steel body is barely visible on the current Pixel Watch, only on the rotating crown and side button.
Google also revealed a new band for the Pixel Watch with circular holes to improve breathability when exercising. It comes in Coral and will be available this fall.
Aside from this, a redesign of the Fitbit app is expected, with one aspect being “Coach”-branded workouts. These will be similar to what Fitbit Premium offers and the new app will continue to encourage users to achieve their goals through the use of visuals.
