Samsung Elec’s 3nm process yield reportedly surpassed TSMC, reports KMIB News. Expectations are forming that Samsung, which has lost customers due to the competitiveness of its ultra-fine process, can provide an opportunity for a “counterattack.”

Recently, Hi Investment & Securities published a report called “Samsung Foundry” and estimated that the yield of Samsung Electronics’ 4nm process was over 75% and over 60% for the 3-nano process. In the case of TSMC, the 4nm yield is about 80%.

Samsung Electronics has caught up to a level that is almost close.

The secret to achieving yield in a short time is “sluggish semiconductor industry.” Due to the sluggish industry conditions, it was possible to increase the amount of test wafer input, which served as an opportunity to improve the yield of the 7nm process.

It is worth noting that the 3-nano yield is 60%. This is because it is higher than the yield of TSMC known so far. Per reports, TSMC is making Apple A17 and M3 chipsets with N3 (3 nano) process. However, the yield is observed to remain at 55%.
