Samsung is bringing a fun and interactive experience to university students across Korea with its Galaxy Campus Studio. This event lets students try out the new Galaxy S25 Edge, the slimmest and lightest Galaxy S series phone ever.

The Galaxy Campus Studio will be set up at four universities, including Korea University (May 20–22), Jeonbuk National University (May 20–23), Chung-Ang University (May 27–29), and Pusan National University (May 28–30). The event coincidentally starts with the May festival season.

At the studio, students can see the Galaxy S25 Edge’s thin and light design using special tools like a bookshelf and scale kit. They can also try Galaxy AI features such as generative editing, which removes unwanted objects in photos, and real-time visual AI.

The studio focuses on four fun and useful topics – video, photography, art, and job preparation. Students can use tools like Audio Eraser to clean up video sounds or prepare for job interviews using Galaxy AI’s smart features. They can also explore foreign art tours with AI interpretation.

There’s also a fun photo zone where students can take pictures and edit them using the phone’s Photo Assist tool. It is decorated with balloons, which symbolize the Galaxy S25 Edge’s lightweight.

Samsung will also run live online shopping events at Jeonbuk National University (May 20) and Pusan National University (May 28), where students can get special deals on the Galaxy S25 Edge. This event helps students enjoy new technology in fun and creative ways.

Samsung’s XR Headset and AR Glasses get Google’s spotlight at I/O 2025

Samsung Galaxy S26 series is coming in early 2026, and it’s finally shaking things up with a new main camera sensor. The resolution of the base Galaxy S26’s main camera sensor stays at 50MP, but this upgrade could be a game-changer.

For too long, Samsung’s base Galaxy S flagship models have leaned on the same 50MP ISOCELL GN3 sensor. It powered the 2023’s Galaxy S23, 2024’s Galaxy S24, and S25, delivering solid shots but nothing groundbreaking.

The Galaxy S26 base model is said to be sticking with 50MP, but it’s getting a new Samsung ISOCELL GN series camera sensor. This camera upgrade feels like Samsung playing it smart, not flashy.

At present, we don’t know much else about the potential camera sensor. It might have larger pixels or better AI processing, common in Samsung’s ISOCELL tech. A new sensor could make photos crisper and night shots less grainy.

It’ll likely have a fast chip, like the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Exynos 2600, for smooth performance and efficiency. Before the S26, Samsung plans to launch the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 this July, with an S25 FE might come too, offering a cheaper option.

If you’re rocking an S23 or S24, the S26’s new sensor might be worth the upgrade. The Galaxy S26 series should land around February 2026, right on Samsung’s usual schedule.

Rumors suggest that the new lineup will be equipped with One UI 8.5, built on Android 16. It will follow up on the One UI 8.0 that is set to debut with the upcoming foldable phones.

The smartphone market of Southeast Asia dipped 3% in Q1 2025, with 22.8 million units shipped, per Canalys. This was the first decline after five quarters of growth, reflecting tougher market conditions.

Samsung grabbed the lead with a 19% market share, shipping 4.3 million units. Its 5G-capable A-series grew 47% year-on-year, showing strength in premium devices. Stronger telco partnerships also helped Samsung edge out competitors.

Xiaomi took second place, holding a 17% market share with 4 million units shipped. It was the only top-five brand to grow, up 4%. Launching the Note series early in 2025 kept Xiaomi’s momentum strong.

TRANSSION landed third with a 15% market share, but shipments fell 20%. New 2024 launches couldn’t offset weaker demand. OPPO’s 14% share came with a 16% shipment drop, hit by struggles in budget phones.

vivo closed the top five with a 12% market share. Its V-series jumped 34% year-on-year, giving the brand a solid foothold despite the market’s slowdown. This growth highlights vivo’s focus on mid-range appeal.

Despite a rocky start, Southeast Asia’s smartphone market has potential. Samsung and Xiaomi’s smart moves show how to tackle challenges. With 5G growing and production shifting, 2025 could bring fresh opportunities for the region.

Google talked about Samsung’s work on the XR Headset and AR Glasses at I/O 2025. The company has showcased the upgrades coming to the Android ecosystem, apps, and services. The stage has also highlighted Samsung’s XR/AR plans.

XR Headset

Earlier this year, Samsung introduced Project Moohan, its first XR Headset. At the I/O 2025, Google confirmed that Samsung’s XR Headset will launch later this year, equipped with a Snapdragon chipset and Android XR operating system.

Android XR heavily features Android’s easier access and Gemini’s smart features. Google has chosen Samsung’s XR Headset to mark its entry into the XR OS market, with more OEMs expected to join the Android XR Headset market.

Plenty of Google apps, including Chrome, Gemini, Gmail, Google Search, Google Photos, Google TV, Maps, Meet, Play Store, and YouTube, will be optimized for the Android XR operating system for an immersive experience.

Apart from the XR Headset, Google also teased AR Smart Glasses by Samsung.

AR Glasses

Google announced it’s working with Samsung to create reference hardware and software for AR Glasses. The company is collaborating with Samsung to bring their deep partnership to the next level, benefiting millions of consumers.

While specific details are unknown, Samsung is said to be working on crafting reference hardware for the AR Glasses. Google, on the other hand, is working to optimize the Android XR operating system for Smart AR Glasses.

Epic Games just announced the comeback of Fortnite on Apple’s App Store in the US. It’s a massive development in the mobile and gaming industry, having roots in a long legal battle and absence from the platform for 5 years.

Back in 2020, Apple deleted Fortnite from its App Store. The decision was taken due to Epic’s introduction of in-game purchases using virtual currency. Then, Epic Games fought a long legal battle with Apple, and the ruling came in favor of Epic Games.

Fortnite returns to the App Store in the US

Epic Games confirmed Fortnite is now available through the Apple App Store in the US. This follows a legal battle with Apple, and it seems likely that users can now download it directly on iPhones and iPads.

The game maker has also confirmed that Fortnite will soon start appearing in App Store search, too. Fans from the countries of the European Union can also download the game from Epic Games Store and AltStore.

Fortnite Galaxy Store

While Fortnite is back on iOS, it appears to remain unavailable on Samsung’s Galaxy Store, as it was removed in July 2024 due to Epic Games’ protest against Samsung’s sideloading policies.

There are no official/authentic updates suggesting a return, leaving Samsung users without official access, which contrasts with Apple’s recent resolution.

This disparity highlights how platform policies affect game availability, with Apple users gaining access while Android users are left waiting, impacting their gaming experience across devices.
