WhatsApp adds more Material Design elements, rolling out Rounded alerts
WhatsApp starts to roll out a new Beta update to Android users, which integrates Rounded alerts. With the latest Beta v2.23.14.12, WhatsApp replaced the Square-shaped alerts user interface with new Material Design-inspired Rounded alerts.
The screenshots attached below showcase the change coming to your WhatsApp account. Replacing the old Square-shaped UI, the alerts UI now introduces the Rounded section, visible on some accounts after installing the WhatsApp Beta v2.23.14.12, via WABetaInfo.
Importantly, the update brings new alerts user interface to all sections, which is not limited to the one shown in the screenshot. The new design gives a new and modern appearance, making the different parts of the app look consistent with Material Design 3.

It’s expected that the Meta-owned company will continue to release updates to Beta testers to establish a completely revamped interface for the entire app. Do note that the Rounded alerts are available to some lucky beta testers that install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from Play Store.

The new feature aims to make this clearer as it allows users to see exactly what types of notifications they can still receive, even when a group is muted.

Blocked Messages from Unknown Accounts

When activated, it keeps an eye on incoming messages from unknown contacts. If an unknown account sends a lot of messages quickly, WhatsApp will temporarily block those messages. Still, users will receive important messages from unknown contacts.
