Google is reportedly planning a new gaming initiative inside YouTube with “Playables.” This year, the company shut down its gaming platform Stadia and the advertisement business downturn is part of the CEO Sundar Pichai’s push into new areas.

Per the WSJ report, YouTube is internally testing a product called “Playables” for playing online games. This gaming feature with titles accessible from the YouTube app/website on “mobile devices or desktop computers.” Moreover, the internal testing of an arcade game is also underway by employees.

Similar to Stadia, YouTube Playables would allow you to jump into games right from a video or even joining a livestream. As the feature is testing internally, it’s not clear whether it will utilize the same tech as Stadia. It’s also unclear if the scope for Playables will go beyond basic titles at this stage.

“Gaming has long been a focus at YouTube,” a company spokesman said in a statement. “We’re always experimenting with new features, but have nothing to announce right now.”
