Samsung sets Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 launch date, venue: Report

Samsung has reportedly made a big change in both the time and place of the release of the next-gen foldable phones. The latest input claims that Samsung plans to hold an Unpacked event to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 in Seoul in the last week of July.

According to a report, Samsung will launch the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 on July 26 in Seoul, South Korea. Considering that Samsung held foldable Unpacked events on August 10, 2022, and August 11, 2021, the schedule has been moved forward by two weeks this year.

Additionally, the report also suggests a possible release date for the new foldable phones. After Z Flip 5 and Fold 5 unveiling on July 26, Samsung plans to begin releasing the phones on August 11. To be noted, the Z3 and Z4 series began to release in late August 2021 and 2022.

“The previous works were released at the end of August and reflected in the third quarter (July-September) performance for about a month, but this time, the release schedule was advanced and the ‘foldable effect’ could be seen for nearly two months,” said an industry watcher.

After + Before Apple: It is a strategy of Samsung to sell foldable phones ahead of Apple, which introduces new iPhones in September every year, and to release the Galaxy S series early the following year when the new iPhones are less effective.

Unpacked in Seoul

So far, Samsung has held foldable phone launch events only in the United States, such as New York and San Francisco. However, holding a foldable phone public event in Seoul is also a big change, happening this year to promote the city’s bid for the 2030 World Expo.

Regarding this, Samsung Electronics said, “The launch date and venue of the next foldable phone have not yet been decided.”

As we have seen in the CAD renders, the South Korean tech giant made significant changes to the design and usability by increasing the cover screen of the Galaxy Z Flip model from 1.9 inches to 3.4 inches this year. At the same time, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 adopts a new droplet design hinge.
