Wear OS 4 Developer Preview begins, One UI 5 Watch Beta awaited!

Google is starting the Wear OS 4 Developer Preview, available for testing, development, and feedback (via Mishaal Rahman). Since the official update is coming near future, app developers can now begin their apps’ development and testing journey on the next version of Wear OS.
One UI 5 Watch
Earlier, Samsung introduced the next version of its Galaxy Watch operating system, based on Wear OS. It’s almost certain that the One UI 5 Watch will be based on this new Wear OS 4 platform, bringing new features, battery life improvements, and more to Galaxy smartwatches.
The company’s next-generation Galaxy Watch could launch by late July, which will be preloaded with the new One UI 5 Watch operating system. For the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series, Samsung promised to start the One UI 5 Watch Beta program this month.
Wear OS 4 Developer Preview – What’s New
Wear OS 4 brings behavior changes to help improve performance, battery life, security, and privacy. These changes could affect apps until they are updated to support Wear OS 4, so you might see impacts ranging from minor issues to more significant limitations.
Power optimizations
Google revealed that the Wear OS 4 comes with several updates and optimizations to help developers’ app run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Watch Face Format
At I/O, Google announced that it has collaborated with Samsung to introduce the Watch Face Format. It’s a new solution that allows developers and creators to craft power-efficient and stunning watch faces.
New data types
This new Wear OS iteration brings a notable change in data, resulting in Health Services offering new data types, as well as improved permissions for background body sensors.
64-bit kernel and user space
Similar to Android, the company is also ditching 32-bit app support from its wearable platform. Starting with Wear OS 4, Google mandates devs to prepare apps for 64-bit-only hardware to take advantage of the new performance and security improvements.

Google Messages adds waveforms to Voice Recorder UI

Google Messages is getting a new look for its voice recorder UI. The microphone icon in the text field will change to a waveform icon, which is different from the voice typing button in Gboard.
Instead of holding down the mic to record, you will now see a panel with a start/stop button and options to cancel, delete, or attach the recording. You will also see a waveform and a timer while recording, and you can play back the recording before sending it.
The voice messages preview will also show a waveform between the play/pause button and the timer, making it more noticeable than the current straight line.
These changes are not widely available yet, but some users have reported seeing them on their phones. These new changes are part of a bigger redesign that Google is working on for Messages, which includes a revamped home screen that is still in beta testing. Google might announce new features soon.
