Samsung doubling Galaxy Z Flip 5 production, preps July launch
Yesterday, Samsung disclosed its first quarter 2023 earnings results, revealing the great success of the Galaxy S23 series and more focus on the foldable segment. Reliable source Ross Young revealed that Samsung has a big production plan for the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
According to the input, the order for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 production for July 2023 is almost double that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 in 2022. As the company is raising production numbers for July itself, there’s a high possibility of an early debut of Galaxy foldables this year.
Last year, the Korean tech giant introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 on August 10, while the shipments begin in late August. It’s expected that the company might unveil the next-gen foldables in late July and the official launch is likely to happen in early August.
Early launch of Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 will help Samsung increase the gap from Apple’s next-gen iPhones. As there could be more gap between both rival lineups, Samsung may take advantage of higher sales by giving big trade-ins and early purchase offers like a free smartwatch.
Galaxy Z Flip 5 Design & Upgrades
Cover screen upgrade is going to be the biggest topic on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone. Samsung is rumored to bring a 3.4-inch display, up from the current 1.9-inch panel on the Flip 4. The screen follows a folder icon shape as part of arranging the dual camera sensors.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy will power both upcoming foldables, with Samsung further enhancing its performance as seen on an early benchmark. The selfie camera sensor will remain the same as the Flip 4 and the company may promote rear camera selfies, thanks to the large cover display.
Yesterday, we saw the Samsung Galaxy S24 series renders that revealed the phones’ design. While the Galaxy S24 and S24+ feature flat frame design, the S24 Ultra apparently brings the narrowest bezel in history. The same source now posted cropped images so you can better understand the design changes.
Samsung has slightly changed the aspect ratio of the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This results in changes in the middle frame, and ditches the curved edges, indicating a flat display design. In the video below, you can see the transformation of the S23 Ultra into the upcoming S24 Ultra device.

As you can see in the comparison renders, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an almost flat design as compared to its predecessor. The company has already reduced the curvature with the S23 Ultra this year, and it’s going to be flat, starting with the S24 Ultra next year.

Samsung recently unveiled its fifth-generation foldable smartphones in China, where they have different names and features than the global versions. The Samsung W24 is the rebranded version of the Galaxy Z Fold 5, while the Samsung W24 Flip is of the Galaxy Z Flip 5. These phones have some differences in aspects like RAM, weight, and wallpapers.
The Samsung W24 and W24 Flip come with exclusive wallpapers that are not available on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5.
