Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 would be bringing a massive cover screen and the latest rumor talks about its Always On Display feature. There are wild rumors that the next clamshell foldable’s AOD could look like the iPhone 14 Pro.

According to tipster @Tech_Reve, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 may feature iPhone 14 Pro-like Always On Display. However, the tipster has not mentioned on which screen Samsung’s next flip-style folding phone could bring iPhone-inspired AOD.

As the outer display is going to be incredibly bigger, the company might utilize it in a striking way, which users will prefer. It’s worth mentioning that Apple’s AOD made for iPhone(s) is based on wallpaper dimming instead of activating a separate UI.

Always On Display is a great feature offered by various Samsung devices including flagship and mid-rangers. When activated, the screen turns entirely black and showcases only numbers and icons using fewer assets from the OS and phone’s hardware.

Apple’s variant of Always On Display dims the Lock Screen while still showing helpful information, like the time, widgets, and wallpaper. The company claims to have made it with the least battery consumption by taking benefit of the latest display technologies.

The tiny cover display of the current flip-style foldable also brings the AOD feature, but it’s not like iPhone 14 Pro. And instead of turning the AOD to wholly dark, the outer screen may be equipped with wallpaper dimming based Always On Display feature.

If the device will have iPhone 14-like AOD, it might also borrow some of its features such as auto-deactivation when the phone is lying face down or inside your pocket or bag. Usually, AOD doesn’t work when your phone has less battery or power saving mode is on.
