Google could introduce its first foldable smartphone – Pixel Fold at I/O 2023 next month. The company may also share Android 14’s development progress and distribution roadmap, and an affordable phone – Pixel 7a. Well now, a new leak says Google Pixel 8 Pro could use Samsung 50MP GN2 camera.

According to reliable Samsung tipster IceUniverse, Google Pixel 8 Pro, which is scheduled to launch later this year, would use the 50MP ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor. Around four months back, we heard that the next Pixel flagship will be equipped with a Staggered HDR camera.

The latest input hints that this year’s top Pixel model will bring an upgraded image sensor, with some new tricks and techniques. Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 sensor comes with Staggered HDR for better dynamic range in photos and videos

Compared to the ISOCELL GN1 used in Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro, the ISOCELL GN2 is a 1/1.12-inch sensor, which is bigger in size. It will let the phone capture even enhanced images, courtesy of bigger pixels and Staggered HDR technology.

Google eyes on Samsung’s lead?

Last October, Google released the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones in more markets than the Pixel 6. Compared to Chinese brands, consumers found Google the best Samsung alternative in the Android segment. After flagship and affordable phones, the company is now debuting its first tablet and foldable phone to the market.

Android’s proprietary access makes Pixel phones a great option for consumers who don’t want to pick up a Galaxy. With a tweaked chipset, Google is capable of bringing the best AI-derived features to Pixel users. As of now, Pixel phones have negligible presence in the market, but, it could not take much time to rival Galaxy line.
