Samsung One UI 7.0 brings these new camera features

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra

Samsung One UI 7.0 is rolling for smartphones with a new camera app including a wide focus on one – hand operations and ease of access through a redesign.

The new app has better space efficiency for on-board elements that improves UI interactions by removing distractions. This decluttering helps you to see what’s important in the live-preview without overwhelming options scattered all over the screen.

The new app enhances the experience with smooth animations, which creates an eye-catching response to the user.

Let’s take a look at the One UI 7.0 camera app features.

Zoom toggle

One UI 7.0 brought the zoom levels below the camera view. Previously, zoom controls used to appear on the bottom side inside the camera view, which expands with more levels above the shutter button.

However, these controls are now fully exposed, and organized above the capture button. Interestingly, the animations make these controls look even better.

Flying Menu

Samsung has restructured the app and removed the unnecessary space by moving some settings to the bottom area. This movement created more room on the top, while storing only essential features.

Now, the app shifted these on-screen features inside the fly out menu button, represented by four squared shape dots. Once tapped, the settings expand with a strip of options hiding the zoom levels. Similarly, the extra zoom levels expand over this fly out menu button dynamically.

AI Filters

The latest One UI version brings new filters for flagship phones, revamping the ones offered in One UI 6.0 and prior versions. These bring more control over the image properties, including the following:

  • Strength
  • Color temperature
  • Contrast
  • Saturation
  • Film grain

These properties can be adjusted in real-time and post-capture to take visually appealing photographs and videos. These were first introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, but One UI 7.0 is bringing them to previously released models.

Settings

Samsung has made a few new changes to the camera settings to extend the camera options and add new features for eligible devices, such as Log video. The app also has a few new options, such as more customized guidelines and retaining exposure settings.

Log Video

The app has a new Log video feature that helps you capture video with wide dynamic range right from your smartphone. These videos contain actual video properties including colors and light that can be tweaked on a PC with an advanced video editor.

The rollout resumed on April 15, 2025, after fixes. If you haven’t received the update, check Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
  • Carrier Delays: AT&T users may face delays, with some reports suggesting the update could arrive by April 26, 2025. Verizon and T-Mobile users have reported faster access for the S24 series and foldables.
  • How to Check: Ensure your device is charged and connected to Wi-Fi. Back up your data before updating, as the update file is ~5GB.
    • Beta Program: If you’re on the One UI 7 beta (available for S24 series, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, S23 series, Tab S10 series, and A55), you may have received earlier builds.

Devices still awaiting One UI 7

Older flagships like the Galaxy S22 series, Z Fold4, Z Flip4, and Tab S8 series are expected to get One UI 7 in May 2025. Mid-range devices (e.g., Galaxy A55, A35, A15) and budget models (e.g., Galaxy A14, M14, F14) are slated for June 2025. If you own one of these, let me know if you’re patiently waiting or frustrated with the delay.

Samsung releases One UI 7 for millions of Galaxy devices in one country, with US and global rollout still uncertain [UPDATE]

Published

on

One UI 7

UPDATE: Samsung started rolling out a new One UI 7 version in the US, India, and many other regions.

On April 22, 2025, Samsung began rolling out its highly anticipated One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, to millions of Galaxy devices in South Korea. This major software upgrade, which introduces a revamped user interface, enhanced Galaxy AI features, and improved multitasking with features like the Now Bar, is now available for flagship devices including the Galaxy S23 series, S24 FE, Tab S10, Tab S9, Z Fold5, and Z Flip5.

Korean users are among the first to experience this update, which promises a smoother, more intuitive experience with redesigned widgets, a simplified home screen, and advanced AI-driven tools like Writing Assist and Drawing Assist.

The One UI 7e rollout in South Korea marks a significant milestone for Samsung, with the update already reaching devices like the Galaxy S23 series. The Tab S10 and S9 series benefit from optimized multitasking features tailored for larger screens, while the Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 gain exclusive AI enhancements derived from the Galaxy S25 series.

However, the update’s availability remains limited to South Korea, leaving users in the US and other global markets in anticipation. Samsung’s roadmap indicates that the Galaxy S23 series, S24 FE, and other flagships may not receive One UI 7 globally until May 2025, with potential delays due to regional carrier testing.

A brief pause in the rollout earlier this month, caused by a lock screen bug affecting some Galaxy S24 devices in Korea, has made Samsung cautious, particularly with the S23 series.

Samsung started the US rollout for select devices, including the S24 series, Z Fold6, and Z Flip6, beginning on April 10, but the S23 series, S24 FE, Tab S10, and others are still pending. The company’s phased approach prioritizes flagships, with mid-range devices like the Galaxy A-series slated for June.

As Korean users enjoy One UI 7’s bold new features, the wait continues for millions worldwide. Samsung urges users to check Settings > Software Update regularly, but for now, the global rollout remains uncertain, fueling anticipation and impatience in equal measure.
