Samsung expands Galaxy S21 April 2023 security update to Europe
Last week, Samsung started to release the April 2023 security update for the Galaxy S21 series in the US, which is now expanding to Europe. At present, the update is rolling out in select European markets such as Romania and we expect a wider availability soon.
Samsung consumers in Europe can identify the April 2023 security update via PDA build version G998BXXU7EWCH, G996BXXU7EWCH, or G991BXXU7EWCH for their Galaxy S21 Ultra, S21 Plus, or S21 smartphone.
You will have a better user experience while using your Samsung smartphone as new Galaxy software updates usually include functional enhancements and under-the-hood optimizations. As the company disclosed earlier, the latest Android security update comes with a lot of CVE fixes for consumers.
The Android and One UI-based April patch carries fixes for several common vulnerability exposures including but not limited to 5 Critical, 46 High, and 1 Moderate. Notably, Google found 4 more vulnerabilities, which are not applicable to your Galaxy S21.
S23’s April update
Samsung initially started April 2023 update rollout to the Galaxy S23 series. The first included major camera improvements to enhance photography and videography capabilities. It’s expected that the company may share some optimization with the S21 series as well with future updates.
S22 grabs Image Clipper
The Galaxy S22 series finally received S23’s Image Clipper feature. It allows you to create a cutout of objects from images of the video. Once done, users can either create a sticker or use the cutout anywhere they want to. Samsung promised to bring Image Clipper to the S21 series as well.
How to update
If you are in Europe or the United States, you can trigger the manual download of the software. To do so, just visit system Settings, followed by the Software update section, and hit the Download and install button. Wait for the software download and hit Install now to finish the procedure.
After unlocked models, Samsung has started releasing the April 2024 security update for carrier-locked variants of Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones in the US. The update is live on Comcast, T-Mobile, and Xfinity Mobile network carriers.
April 2024 security patch fixes over 40 security flaws to provide an intuitive experience. It protects against security threats by incorporating the latest security patches for Android. It also enhances some functions to provide a more reliable and efficient user experience.
Users of locked Samsung Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones can identify the April 2024 security update in the US through PDA version N98XUSQS6HXD1.
If you have received the update pop-up on your smartphone, you can install it to get an enhanced experience. You can check and install the update through Settings >> Software Update >> Download and install.

Samsung has acknowledged the Quick Panel issue in its latest One UI 6.1 update that is affecting users. The issue unexpectedly activates the quick panel when users interact with notifications or try to access detailed views. This problem has been a cause of inconvenience for many Galaxy users.
The tech giant has assured its users that a fix is in the works. A community moderator said the company apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this bug and has promised to deliver a software update to resolve the Quick panel issue on One UI 6.1 devices.
Samsung has not provided a specific timeline for the update but suggested keeping devices up-to-date to benefit from the latest software advancements. The upcoming update is expected to resolve the Quick Panel issue.
Users are advised to stay tuned for the software update, which will include the necessary fix for the Quick Panel bug.

Samsung has pushed an April 2024 security update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones in Korea. This update enhances system security and stability as well as adds new features for a better user experience.
April 2024 security update for the Galaxy S22 series in Korea brings Mobile ID support for the Samsung Wallet app. Through this update, users can save and use their government-issued mobile driver’s license and national veterans registration card on their phones.
However, only IC cards with a mobile ID icon can be added. Users can use it anywhere just like your real ID. In addition, the update also applies the Google security patch to enhance the performance

Users will have to download a 420MB package to install the update. To install the update, need to navigate to Settings >> Software Updates >> Download and install.
