Samsung will begin producing Apple iPhone 15 OLED from May 2023

Samsung Display is planning to start mass production of OLED panels for the Apple iPhone 15 series in mid-May. Initially, Samsung and LG Display planned to begin the OLED panels’ mass production from June, but BOE is in trouble.
The iPhone 15 series consists of four models, which use LTPS in standard and Plus models, while the premium Pro models will use LTPO panels. As the display production begins, the iPhone maker will have to boost the production of hardware elements prior to the expected September launch.
Apple brought Dynamic Island to the Pro and Pro Max models of the iPhone 14 series, however, this year, the Dynamic Island will be available in all four models. BOE is expected to produce OLED panels for only non-Pro variants of the upcoming iPhone lineup.
It’s reported that Samsung plans to mass-produce Apple iPhone 15 general-type OLED from mid-May and focus on iPhone 15 Pro lineup OLED production from June. However, the US tech giant will reportedly use BOE’s OLED panels in the fourth generation of the iPhone SE model, likely to launch next year.
The Chinese display maker missed the delivery of the first shipment of iPhone 15 OLED due to a kind of light leakage in the hall display part. As BOE appears unable to supply the general OLED panels for the iPhone 15 models, the entire business plan will be disrupted.
BOE’s production setbacks had an effect on Samsung Display’s advance of the iPhone 15 OLED mass production schedule. The OLED has no significant difference overall compared to the previous one, but the front-hole display (Dynamic Island) processing has been added.

Google Messages adds waveforms to Voice Recorder UI

Google Messages is getting a new look for its voice recorder UI. The microphone icon in the text field will change to a waveform icon, which is different from the voice typing button in Gboard.
Instead of holding down the mic to record, you will now see a panel with a start/stop button and options to cancel, delete, or attach the recording. You will also see a waveform and a timer while recording, and you can play back the recording before sending it.
The voice messages preview will also show a waveform between the play/pause button and the timer, making it more noticeable than the current straight line.
These changes are not widely available yet, but some users have reported seeing them on their phones. These new changes are part of a bigger redesign that Google is working on for Messages, which includes a revamped home screen that is still in beta testing. Google might announce new features soon.
