One UI 6.0: The ultimate features wishlist for Samsung users
One UI 6.0 features will reveal throughout the Beta testing, expected to start in August this year, while our wishlist consists of all the features we want Samsung to bring with its Android 14 update this year.
Google kicked off the Android 14 Developer Preview in February and the final release will hopefully happen by August. Samsung has neither joined Google in Preview nor it’s going to be a part of Android 14’s Public Beta testing.

Samsung is expected to release the first One UI 6.0 Beta by August, which will reveal the user interface and features as well. Since there’s a long gap between March and August, we will continue to gather inputs on what could come.
Samsung One UI 6.0 Features Wishlist
Here’s our wishlist of One UI 6.0 features:
Seamless Updates [A/B Partition]
It has been a long time since Galaxy consumers are demanding the seamless updates feature. Google Pixel phones adopted this tech years ago, which radically reduces the shutdown time while installing firmware updates. Hopefully, Galaxy devices will get support for seamless updates or the S24 series.
Redesigned user interface elements
The original One UI version was first launched in 2019 and the company introduced a total of five generations excluding point versions. Eye-catching user interface plays a key role in user experience but Samsung seems to be only focussing on refinements, which should change with One UI 6.
Pixel Dynamic Colors
Themed Icons and even the Color Palette feature don’t look appropriate on Galaxy devices. Samsung needs to make significant changes in this aspect as most of the users are not satisfied with One UI’s Material You version. Pay attention, Pixel comes with way better Material You integration than the Galaxy.
Refined animations and visual effects
The Korean tech giant brought new visual effects and improved animations with the One UI 5.0. But when compared to Apple iOS, it appears Samsung is far behind in optimization. Flagship phones undoubtedly offer great animations but Apple manages to offer the same experience on all models.
One UI Boot animation
Samsung is the world’s biggest smartphone vendor and the biggest spreader of Android operating system. With the One UI 5.1, it has added One UI animation which appears at the time of app optimization. However, Samsung One UI 6.0 should bring One UI’s native boot animation to Galaxy devices.
Tabular icons and large folder
MIUI 14 introduces tabular icons and large folder features (via RPRNA) as part of renovating the home screen experience. Large folders became part of almost every Android skin developed by China-based vendors, however, the tabular icons are a step ahead. Samsung should consider bringing such kind of home screen tweaks.
Multi user profiles
Multi-user profiles feature was sadly ditched from the One UI 5.0 due to unknown reasons. We hoped One UI 5.1 could bring back the function but it didn’t happen. There’s no input on why the company is not bringing this useful feature to Galaxy devices, and we hope it will come back with One UI 6.0
Native app lock
Norton app lock has over 5 million installations on Google Play Store and most of the users are from Samsung and Google. Chinese ROMs such as MIUI bring a native app lock feature in order to allow users to give another protection shield on certain apps to share the phone with others hassle-free.
Leaving Google aside, One UI 6.0 should include the native app lock feature so users won’t have to get any third-party applications from app markets. Secure folder works pretty well, but an app lock’s usability is far away from this limited function.
Passkeys for native apps
Dashlane confirmed that its native app will get passkeys support following the final release of Android 14. Since the One UI 6.0 will be based on Android 14, we hope, Samsung won’t leave this feature behind or keep limited to flagship devices or certain models.
Emoji wallpaper generator
Android 14 DP2 brings an excellent new feature, allowing Pixel users to create wallpaper based on emojis. There’s a new emoji lab added in the native wallpaper section, where user can pick up their preferred emojis and combine them in an image background to create wallpaper. One UI 6.0 should bring this feature to Samsung phones.
Super low battery alert
Android 14 adds a new battery low alert which prompts users when the phone has just 2% battery left. One UI 6.0 should also bring this feature so users can stop using the phone and get a few minutes to plug in the charger.
Video Remaster
One UI 5.1 expands the usability of One UI’s Remaster feature with support for GIF files. We now want Samsung to bring support for Video Remaster with the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 firmware.
Improved Nightography
Google is working on the development of an improved Night Sight feature for the Pixel 8 Pro smartphone, with multi-camera sensors support. As rivals are now focussing on nighttime photography, Samsung One UI 6.0 should bring improvements to its epic Nightography feature.

Android 14 (One UI 6.0) update will be a big deal for Samsung consumers having an eligible Galaxy smartphone or tablet. Android 12 brought radical user interface tweaks, which have been refined in the Android 13 update. And we hope, the Android 14 will focus on performance and efficiency.

Samsung will introduce the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 software version for Galaxy devices this year. I can confirm that the next version will be One UI 6 as there’s no rocket science behind this. One UI is a mature software and the company is strictly maintaining the naming strategy.
One UI 6.0
Flagship Samsung devices ranging from the Galaxy S21 series to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 foldables are eligible for the One UI 6.0 update, based on Android 14. Besides, there are a lot of Galaxy handsets launched with Android 12, which are also on the list!
One UI 6 is becoming the biggest reason, which is forcing me to purchase the S23 Ultra, but, I’ll continue using my S22 Ultra as a daily driver. Upgrade to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be highly fruitful for me, since, Samsung won’t be taking much time to expand One UI 6 Beta for older models.
One UI 6.0 Features
All the Security and Privacy related features and improvements of Android 14 will be included with the One UI 6.0 update. Samsung doesn’t rely on Google’s Android when it comes to the user interface as Galaxies offer the best and clean user experience with One UI.
We are too away from the One UI 6’s tentative development timeline, but, Samsung should now work on app icons, stock launcher, quick settings panel, and notification panel. Most users want a radically renovated user interface in One UI, as it’s continuing with refinements and refinements.

One UI 6.0 Eligible devices
In the Galaxy Z series, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are eligible for the new OS. In the Galaxy S series, the Galaxy S23 series will get One UI 6 first, however, it will also be rolled out to the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy S21 series (FE included).

One UI 6.0 Release Date
Within 2022, the company rolled out the One UI 5.0 update for almost all eligible Galaxy models. And February became a great month for flagship Galaxy devices that received the One UI 5.1 feature drop update. It’s difficult to commit release date of One UI 6.0, while the timeline should be early October.

Post completion of the One UI 5.0 rollout, Samsung promised that it will further strengthen its collaboration with chip makers (i.e. Qualcomm) and Google. As promised, this year, the company will try to deploy One UI even faster and more reliable software for Galaxy.

March 22: Google takes ideas from One UI to make Android 14 a user-friendly and feature-full OS, Source 1, 2.
March 21: We tried installing the Android 14 Developer Preview 2 on our Google Pixel 7 unit and it bricked.
March 8: Google kicked off Android 14 Developer Preview 2 for Pixel smartphones with various new features.
March 02: Dashlane confirmed that the Android 14’s final release will bring support for passkeys to apps.
February 8: Google released Android 14 Developer Preview 1 for Pixel devices (Pixel 4a 5G to 7 Pro).
Android 14 development is underway and Google released the second Developer Preview build in on March 8th. Samsung’s One UI 6.0 software will be based on the Android 14 OS, which could introduce a new battery alert feature for user convenience.

According to the information, Android 14 has a new battery alert feature, which notifies Pixel smartphone users that their smartphone’s battery is about to die. Samsung may also bring this new battery alert feature to Galaxy devices with the upcoming One UI 6.0 iteration.
As shown in the UI screenshot, the OS pushes a notice on the screen/notification panel, informing the user that just 2% battery is remaining in the device. If you are a heavy smartphone user or often see the situation of the battery dies, you’ll see a “Very low battery” notification when you have just 2% battery life left.
At present, Android smartphones running v13 get notified when the battery level is at both 20% and 10%. The OS also recommends you turn on the Battery Saver and Extreme Battery Saver features to get some time to plug in the charger.
Currently, this new battery alert feature is available on Google Pixel smartphones running Android 14 Developer Preview 2. Hopefully, the South Korean tech giant may not skip bringing this minor yet useful addition with its next One UI iteration.
One UI 6 Availability
Various Samsung devices are eligible for Android 14, while some have ended their major OS upgrades support with the Android 13 OS. The Galaxy S21, S22, and S23 series will get Android 14-based One UI 6.0. Sadly, the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 series won’t receive Android 14-based One UI 6.0 firmware.

Ahead of unveiling Pixel 8 series, Google is preparing to bring a new Video Unblur feature to its native Photos app. Since Samsung already has Remaster feature for Image and GIF files, the One UI 6.0 should introduce a Video Remaster feature to take on Google.

Samsung’s Android 14 update would bring the One UI 6.0 software to Galaxy devices later this year. During the Beta test expected between August and October, the company will test new features and improvements derived from the new operating system.
No doubt, the South Korean tech giant takes care of consumers’ feedback and applies necessary suggestions intro mobile and software departments. That said, Samsung should bring a new Video Remaster feature with its new One UI 6.0 iteration.
Google debuted the Photo Unblur feature with the Pixel 7 smartphone lineup last year. For the next-gen flagships, the company seems to be preparing a more advanced feature called Video Unblur. Since the feature entered the internal testing phase, Google would surely bring it to the consumers.
Video Unblur
Google and Samsung jointly working on the development of the Tensor G3 chipset, which just rumored to be a modified version of the Exynos 2300. The Tensor G2 features excellent machine-learning capabilities, which enables features like Photo Unblur.
As Photo Unblur is exclusively available on the Pixel 7 series, Google is reportedly working to finalize the Video Unblur function, which could debut with the Pixel 8 series later this year. Through an APK teardown, 9to5Google managed to achieve the Video Unblur user interface in the Photos app.
Samsung is already ahead of Google as the GIF Remaster feature is the most recent example. The One UI’s Remaster feature is capable of upscaling tiny clips, and we don’t think the company will face any issues expanding this feature to the Video files as well.
The South Korean tech giant usually adapts the new Android OS and delivers it to Galaxy devices in the fourth quarter of every year. Moving ahead, the One UI 6.1 iteration might debut intelligent new features to enhance user experience on Galaxy.
