Google Messages Magic feature

In the past few weeks, Google has made a lot of changes to its Messages application, such as RCS branding, read recipient icons, any emoji reaction, and more. Now the company is adding another useful feature. The Google Messages app will now let you add a contact profile photo to conversations.

Google’s Messages app opens contacts when you tap a person’s name in the app bar, which is convenient when you need to call a person between chatting. Now the company is improving this shortcut by showing their profile pictures to the conversation thread.

This is the same image that appears in the main list of conversations (via 9To5Google). Meanwhile, in group conversations, tapping on the location will open that detail page.

This new Google Messages feature looks similar to social media apps. such as Facebook Messenger and Telegram which show avatars or profile pictures in the same left position.

This tweak is clear enough to save you from going back to the main conversation list. It is noteworthy that as part of this change, the magnifying glass icon is removed, and the “Search” option is added to the overflow menu, which is becoming slightly longer.

Availability –

Google Messages app is getting the ability to show a contact profile photo to a chat with the beta update that you can verify through version  20230313_01_RC00.

It is currently limited to a few consumers, however, the company should soon make a wider rollout for everyone.

WhatsApp Channel list UI

WhatsApp is testing a new feature that suggests users some contacts from their address book to chat with. You must be aware of one of the Instagram features, which suggests accounts to follow, and this upcoming feature of WhatsApp might also work similar way.

The only difference here is that Instagram suggests accounts that you have not followed yet, but it usually remains connected with your mutual friends. While the under-testing feature of WhatsApp only suggests contacts that are in your address book.

As per the details, WhatsApp will add a new section to the chat index, and that option will list suggested new contacts from the address book to start a chat with and optimize their experience. Notably, the option will be added to the bottom of the chats list, providing users with easy access.

Furthermore, the contacts that WhatsApp will suggest might include contacts with whom users have never interacted before. These suggestions will also be presented to new users upon their initial registration, enhancing the process of establishing connections for the first time.

This addition will enhance the communication process and user convenience. It also encourages users to initiate conversations more frequently, increasing engagement with new contacts. However, users will also be able to dismiss this section in case they don’t prefer receiving suggestions.

However, this feature to suggest contacts is currently in development and will be available for users in the future. Are you excited for this new addition, or are happy with the limited contacts to chat with? Let us know your thoughts through our social media platforms.
