Galaxy devices will get Android 14 OS with a big One UI 6.0 upgrade, starting later this year. Samsung is expected to offer the passkeys feature to Galaxy devices with the major One UI 6.0 update. However, it’s reported that it will take a little more time for apps and websites to start adopting passkeys.

Apart from Dashlane, there will be more applications that get Passkeys support as Android 14 unlocks support for passkeys within third-party apps. It’s worth mentioning that another password manager platform 1Password recently announced the arrival of the Passkeys feature.

Dashlane explains that users can simply create a passkey using their fingerprint instead of entering a password. The fingerprint ties the authentication action to the user of the device, which prevents anyone else from creating and using passkeys on this specific device.

One UI 6.0

Android 14 development began with Developer Preview and Google plans to seed the stable build by August 2023. Similar to the last year, Samsung should start One UI 6.0 Beta testing on Galaxy S23 in early August, followed by a stable release that will hopefully happen by October.

The One UI 5.0 and One UI 5.1 updates are all about refinements when it comes to visible changes. The company prefers safety and reliability over cosmetic changes, but it should also take inspiration from rival brands to offer an upgraded user interface.
