Samsung introduces new ‘C-Lab Outside Daegu Campus’ [Korea]

Samsung introduces its external startup incubation program, “C-Lab Outside Daegu Campus“. On February 22, the Korean company held the opening ceremony of its new C-Lab at Samsung Creative Campus in Buk-gu.

The new C-Lab aims to discover and nurture excellent local startups to revitalize the start-up ecosystem and local economy in the region. It is a newly created space to discover and promote excellent startups in the region by expanding the startup incubation program that Samsung Electronics.

Samsung has been opening the C-Lap Outside program since 2018. It is a program to foster external startups to revitalize the Korean startup ecosystem and create high-quality youth jobs.

Additionally, the Daegu and Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center has fostered 8 representative startups (333 in Daegu and 185 in North Gyeongsang) to solve the problem of start-up infrastructure in areas that are relatively scarce compared to the metropolitan area.

Moreover, before the opening ceremony of this new C-Lab Outside, Samsung received the recommendation of the Daegu Creative Economy Innovation Center and selected five innovative startups in the region after the expert screening. These include healthcare, robotics, and material parts.

Specifically, startups in the healthcare sector were strongly selected, according to the region’s characteristics as a leading city in the digital healthcare industry.

  • Neopons‘, a company that develops a diagnostic platform for brain diseases/language disorders using medical AI
  • ClaireAudience‘, a fetal/maternal health examination service app development company
  • TIA‘, a company that develops high-efficiency catalytic filter for fine dust reduction
  • Module replaceable robot platform company ‘MFR
  • Smart window developer ‘View‘ that adjusts transparency according to the situation

Startups selected for ‘C Lab Outside Daegu’ will receive the same support as ‘C Lab Outside’ startups in Seoul for the next year, such as:

  • Business support of up to 1 million
  • Customized mentorships for each development stage
  • Connection Opportunities for cooperation with Samsung Electronics and partners
  • Participation in domestic and overseas IT exhibitions such as CES
  • Domestic and overseas market development
