Verizon Samsung Galaxy S22 grabs One UI 5.1 update in the US

Samsung Galaxy S22 series starts getting Android 13-based One UI 5.1 update at Verizon Mobile network in the US. The new update brings a bunch of new features and improvements that enable greater creativity and personalization for a more convenient experience overall.

This major update also installs February 2023 security patch to improve system security and stability. In addition to this, the update brings 5 critical vulnerability fixes and addresses 43 highly leveled CVEs. Besides, the company has listed exclusive SVE items that ensure the best security on Galaxy.

Users of Verizon Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphones in the US can identify the latest update via version S901USQU2CWAI, S906USQU2CWAI, and S908USQU2CWAI respectively.

The highlighted features of One UI 5.1 are Selfie Camera color tone, Expert RAW quick access, enhanced multitasking, GIF Remaster, Extract text from Video,  Image Clipper, Battery Widget, Detailed Weather Widget, Bixby Text Call English support, and more.

If you have not received a phone-generated prompt, head towards the Settings, tap on Software update, followed by Download and install. Let your phone find new firmware on Samsung’s server and that’s it.

WHAT’S NEW IN ONE UI 5.1 

The new software update brings the latest One UI 5.1 enhancements and the latest security patch for your device.

Camera

  • Selfie picture: You can now easily change color tone by selecting Natural or Bright when taking a selfie.
  • Expert Raw is now discoverable and can be downloaded in Camera modes.

Multi-tasking

  • When resizing the pop-up view, with an added pre-defined line, you can now drag the window’s guideline towards the top of the screen to enlarge or towards the inside to minimize.
  • In split view, you’ll see icons of apps you’ve used recently and a section for Most used apps that will display the apps you use most often.

Gallery

  • GIF Remaster: GIF Remaster has been added to help you remaster and improve the quality of your GIFs.
  • Extract text from a video: Extract text is available if you pause a video with text information on screen. Select to extract the text which can then be used in emails, contacts, on the internet and more.
  • Details view: When you select details of an image or a video, in landscape mode you can see both the picture and the details at the same time for your convenience. Select an image or video from the Gallery > select the three dots for more options > select details > position your device in landscape mode.

Wallpaper

  • Video clip editing: If you select a video to use as your wallpaper, the best video clip will be suggested as your wallpaper selection. Open Wallpaper > Select a video from your Gallery > the best moment will be suggested in “Trim” > If you like the suggestion, you don’t need to trim it again.
  • People management has become smarter to manage your Gallery. When there are people groups that are analyzed as the same person or the same type, you will receive recommendations to integrate them into one group.

Widget

  • Battery Widget: A Battery widget has been added that will quickly show battery life for the smartphone and connected devices.
  • Weather Widget: Details and more useful information will be displayed for the weather when you launch the weather widget, such as severe weather alert and details of daily weather summary and predictions.

Samsung Internet

  • Browse the internet from another device if both devices you have are signed in with the same Samsung account and data is synced. This can be done in Settings > Samsung account > Sync settings > Enable “Samsung Internet”.
  • You will receive a Samsung Internet pop up on screen > click it to continue browsing the internet.

AR Zone

  • Multiple emojis: Add a second AR Emoji in a single sticker. Customize each emoji and then combine them as you prefer.

Bixby Text Call

  • Use Bixby to answer phone calls and respond to people with text-to-voice. The English version is now available for download. Once it is downloaded, Bixby Text Call is ready for you to use.
  • Open Phone app > More options (3 dots) > Settings > Bixby text call > enable Bixby text call > the download screen will pop up > select download.
