Samsung has taken a deep dive into the robot business after choosing this area as one of its future growth engines. The company last year promoted its Robot Business Task Force, created in 2021, to a higher team level.

Last week, the Korean company already invested 59 billion won ($46.4 million) in cooperative robot developer Rainbow Robotics, which will let Samsung hold a heavy 10.3% share in the collaborative robot maker.

At the same time, the chief executive also informed that the company is open to mergers and acquisitions, which have been almost nonexistent since its 2017 purchase of US car infotainment audio company Harman International Industries for $9 trillion.
“Robots are a new growth engine of Samsung Electronics. We plan to release a human assistant robot called EX1 within this year,” – said Han Jong-hee, chief executive officer and vice chairman of Samsung, at a press conference during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas.
