Samsung Galaxy Note 20 grabs January update in the US
Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra smartphones are getting January 2023 security update in the US.
According to the information, the latest firmware update bears version numbers N981U1UES3GVL1 and N986U1UES3GVL1 for the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, respectively.
Galaxy Note 20 January update
First reported by AH, Samsung Galaxy Note 20 lineup’s January 2023 update is available for carrier-unlocked models of AT&T, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Comcast, and Cricket Wireless in the US.
For the Galaxy Note 20 consumers outside the US, the Korean tech giant may soon expand the availability of this most up-to-date Android security patch, which fixes critical Knox and Secure Folder issues.
As per Samsung’s security patch bulletin, the January patch update includes fixes for more than 70 vulnerabilities, which includes 52 high leveled CVEs from Google and about 20 SVEs from the phone vendor.
Starting with Galaxy Note 10 series, Samsung has started the January update rollout for Galaxy S21, Galaxy A73, Galaxy A10 and Galaxy Z Flip LTE/5G smartphones in the international market.
How to update// You have to open your device’s system Settings, then scroll down until the option entitled Software update. Tap it then the user interface will show you another tab namely Download and install.

CVE-2024-44068
Samsung’s changelog mentions only the inclusion of the October patch. Meanwhile, the company highlighted on its security page that it addresses CVE-2024-44068 from the Samsung Semiconductor Division.
The common vulnerability exposure is rated as HIGH leveled flaw, with the description reading “A Use-After-Free in the mobile processor leads to privilege escalation.” The affected chipsets are Exynos 9820, 9825, 980, 990, 850, W920.
How to install:
Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra users can easily install the October patch. Head towards Settings, followed by Software update and Download and install. Ensure connectivity to an unmetered connection for seamless installation.

One UI 7 Beta
Samsung confirmed One UI 7 Beta will launch by the end of this year. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be invited in the first phase of the rollout. The Beta will also be available for general consumers apart from the Developers’ community.
The final version will be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked next year.
