Samsung slaps Samsung for 2023 semiconductor profit

Industry analysts expect that Samsung semiconductors’ annual operating profit could be between 25 trillion won to 26 trillion won in 2022. However, Samsung gets slapped with a 50 percent decline in semiconductor business profit as pointed out in its own expectations for 2023.

According to TheElec, Samsung is expecting that its semiconductor sales will earn an annual profit of around 13.1 trillion won in 2023. Notably, it’s just half (26 trillion won to 13.1 trillion won) of the expected semiconductor the company is going to record in 2022.

The Korean tech giant reportedly shared this figure with its employees through a note circulated on Wednesday. The document explains the employee’s expected bonus payment amounts, which may be paid in January for the performance of last year.

It’s worth mentioning that Samsung Foundry lost all orders of Qualcomm for Snapdragon chipsets due to throttling and heating issues, which directly benefited TSMC. And the global market is also facing a downturn in the semiconductor business, which is like a sip of poison for Samsung.
