Samsung is trying to give Camera Assistant app to more Galaxy devices

Samsung debuted a new Camera Assistant plugin as a new member of the Good Lock family. This app provides support for customizing the stock camera app in a handful of ways. Currently, the Galaxy S22 series only supports Good Lock Camera Assistant, while Samsung is trying to expand it further.

According to Korean community’s Camera moderator, Samsung is working on the development of Camera Assistant app for more Galaxy devices. Since the Beta testing of the application is running by engineers, it’s not possible to share exact release date for older Galaxy devices.

In addition to this, the source revealed that the company is trying to provide Camera Assistant app support to as many Galaxy models as possible. It’s speculated that the Galaxy S21, Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 series will support the Camera Assistant app.

Update, December 26// Another user reached out at Samsung to inquire about the Camera Assistant app support for Galaxy devices launched before Galaxy S22 series, The moderator said that beta testing is in progress for users of the S22 model. The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update is available for all Galaxy flagships globally. Since Samsung introduced the new Good Lock version, some newly released plugins are either limited to Korean consumers or the Galaxy S22 series flagships.

Samsung is set to reintroduce the popular Finder Swipe function of the Home Up Good Lock module that was removed with the One UI 6.0 update. Previously, users could access the Finder by swiping down from the home screen. This function was widely used but was discontinued in the last major update.

In response to the demand, a Samsung community moderator announced plans to bring back the Finder Swipe feature. The company is now working on an update to Home Up that will reintroduce this feature.

The bringback of the Finder Swipe function is expected to enhance user experience by simplifying navigation. The upcoming update is eagerly awaited by users who prefer quick and easy access to Finder provided by swipe-down gestures.

The moderator confirmed this new update after reporting a design flaw related to the reset button’s overly sensitive touch area, which has led to unexpected resets and loss of custom keyboard layouts.
