Samsung Research 2022 Tech Trends include 7 core technologies

On December 20, Samsung Electronics officially announced 6G (6th generation mobile communication) and AI (artificial intelligence) as core technologies that led global R&D this year.

According to Samsung Research, Device Experience (DX) division’s R&D org., 6G, AI, Robot, Camera technology differentiation, Software innovation, Health care and Next-gen broadcasting are 7 trending techs in 2022.

Back in May, the Korean tech giant held the ‘1st Samsung 6G Forum’ in May and discussed 6G wireless interface and 6G intelligent network, where it introduced ultra-broadband, ultra-low latency, and super-intelligence as the future of 6G.

Moreover, Samsung Research’s Next Generation Telecommunications Research Center also released the ‘6G Frequency White Paper’, which contains information on frequencies to be used for 6G.

Apart from this, Samsung Elec is also paying attention to the industry’s hot topic, ultra/super-giant AI, which can learn on its own from vast amounts of data and make comprehensive inferences like humans.

If we talk about robotics, in May 2022, researcher Stephen McEnsky’s thesis from Samsung Research America (SRA) was published in the world-renowned academic journal ‘Science Robotics’.

Besides, Samsung smartphone camera functions such as ‘Expert RAW’, a camera app, and ‘UDC (Under Display Camera)’, which hides the camera under the display, also showed results.
