One UI 5.0 Security and privacy

Thanks to the One UI 5.0 update, Samsung fans can decide who can see their data and how they will use it. Samsung’s Android 13 update’s newly added Security and Privacy Dashboard feature makes data safety even easier to manage.

With the One UI 5.0 update, the security and personal information protection menus have been merged so users can view the information that may be at risk. The newly added Dashboard section shows the safety status of security items, allowing users to quickly change settings and manage risks seamlessly.

Instant access to data and safety

The new privacy hub introduces options like Lock Screen, Accounts, SmartThings Find, App Safety and Updates so users can instantly access and get informed through red, yellow, or green alerts at a glance, providing clear indicators if there are security issues.

Four important permissions that ensure privacy:

Ads

If you are an avid shopper, the dashboard allows you not to be inundated by targeted advertisements. Here’s how you can take help:

  • Go to the Security and Privacy Dashboard
  • Click the Privacy tab
  • Go to the Ads menu
  • Select Delete AD ID

Mic and Camera access

Google introduced mic and camera access indicators with the Android 12 operating system. Through the Security and Privacy Dashboard, you can revoke mic and/or camera access from certain apps. It further ensures that your face and voice are greatly secured and you can watch when it’s used.

Location

The brilliant Security and Privacy Dashboard allows Galaxy device users to see what apps have tracked their location in the past 24 hours. When prompted, the interface lets you choose to share location within options including “only while using the app,” “for always” along with “precise (approximate) location tracking.”

App preferences

Some apps that you downloaded for use for a certain time, keep tracking your location and data continuously even if you have not used for a long. One UI 5 has solution for this as Galaxy devices will proactively protect users’ privacy by removing permissions from apps that haven’t been used for a while.
