Samsung retains first position in top 100 brands list in South Korea

Samsung has again retained its first position in the top 100 brands list in South Korea. It’s worth mentioning that Samsung is leading the Korean market for 12 consecutive years.

According to Brandstock, a South Korean brand consulting firm, Samsung Galaxy smartphones gained 937.6 out of 1,000 total scores in this year’s Brandstock Top Index (BSTI), which made it garb the first position among all brands in South Korea.

Despite delaying the demands, Samsung Electronics’ share of the global smartphone market increased 1.4 percentage points from a year earlier to 21.8% in the third quarter of this year.

The report further suggets that the company this year’s Galaxy smartphones received positive reviews from customers. Whereas, the high-end Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been chosen as the best invention of 2022 by the American weekly magazine Time.

Furthermore, the value of air and travel brands soared in hopes of resuming overseas travel. The country’s top flag carrier Korean Air jumped 11 notches to 11th place and Hana Tour moved up from 40th last year to 32nd this year.

In the meantime, online shopping brands that grew rapidly during the Covid-19 period saw a decrease in their brand value due to increased market competition. Whereas, Coupang dropped from 11th last year to 20th this year.

Other than these, Gmarket (18th to 28th), Auctions (24th to 41st), 11th Street (47th to 72nd), and SSG.com (71st to 86th) also saw significant declines. Lastly, IT-related brands were also generally sluggish in the Country. Nav slipped from 3rd to 4th position and Google from 9th to 10th during the quoted period.
