Samsung is moving forward to finish Android 13 update rollout by 2022

Apple is the biggest rival of Samsung in the global smartphone market. Since the South Korean tech giant owns the crown of the global market leader, Apple still defeats Samsung when it comes to software update deployment for mobile products.

Back in June, Apple started Beta testing and released the Stable iOS 16 update for iPhone 8 and later on September 12, 2022. If we talk about Android, Google rolled out the final version of Android 13 to all compatible Pixel phones on August 15.

On the flip side, Samsung follows a staged update distribution method to deliver new software updates to Galaxy devices. There are millions of Galaxy devices (phones and tablets) globally, while Apple and Google phones are comparatively fewer.

Still, Samsung is doing better

The above part of this story was brief info about Samsung’s rivals in terms of software update distribution. Well, in 2022, Samsung managed to greatly reduce the Android OS release delay for Galaxy devices and the rollout for flagships somewhat matches Google and Apple.

On October 24, Samsung upgraded the Galaxy S22 series with Android 13, followed by Galaxy S21, S20, and Note 20 series on November 7. Since then, the company is rapidly spreading the new One UI 5.0 software among more and more eligible Galaxy models including FE, A, M, Tab, XCover and F lineups.

Samsung’s running ahead of roadmap

For consumers in Germany, Samsung promised to bring Andorid 13 update for Galaxy flagships in November 2022, which they did. However, the company is running quite ahead of its schedule as models planned to upgrade in January are already receiving the One UI 5 update.

At present, just a handful of Galaxy phones and tablets remain for the Stable Android 13 update, while other eligible models have started getting it, worldwide. Since the availability varies by market and carrier, it would not take more than a month for the wide rollout.

Over the past two days, the entry-level Galaxy A13 and Galaxy M13 smartphones have received a major firmware update, showing how Samsung greatly managed to deploy the Android 13. Seeing this, we can assume that the remaining Galaxies may also receive the One UI 5 update by this month.
