Apple ‘finally’ begins foldable product development: Report

Apple has reportedly begun a 20.25-inch foldable product development project with South Korean display panel makers. As per the report, Apple has started the development of core elements and foldable technology, while, there’s no plan for commercialization until 2026 or 2027.

Since Apple has gradually increased the usage of OLED panels in its products, it’s now entering the foldable segment. TheElec sources revealed that Apple is working on a 20.25-inch foldable product project with major Korean parts makers. When fully unfolded, the product’s screen expands to 20.25 inches.

This huge screen size claim suggests that the product won’t be an iPhone or iPad, and the first foldable screen product of Apple could be a MacBook laptop. When folded, the device turns 15.3 inches, similar to a huge touchscreen tablet.

At present, Apple only uses OLED panels in iPhones and Watches, while other products including iPads, MacBooks, and iMacs use LCD panels. The development project indicates the US tech giant will first bring OLED iPads, MacBooks, and iMacs before entering the foldable segment.
