On October 24, Samsung initially debuted the Stable One UI 5.0 update for the Galaxy S22 series devices. Later on, the company shared an update roadmap, promising Android 13 for various Galaxy phones and tablets. However, Samsung wants to complete the One UI 5.0 update deployment in 2022.

Recently, Samsung Electronics executive Sally Hyesoon Jeong revealed in a chat interview that the company hopes to upgrade all eligible Galaxy devices to the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 version before 2022 ends. It can be achieved as all flagships are updated with the new OS in less than a month.

Here’s what Sally said:

“For the major models, we have already made the announcement on Samsung Members, and the rollout is being carried out in most markets across the globe.

However, from an engineering and product management perspective, it’s not possible to give a definite date for every eligible model but we would like to complete the rollout within this year.”

No doubt, Samsung managed to maintain a speedy Android 13 update rollout for Galaxy devices so far. It’s worth mentioning that some entry-level phones are planned to update in February next year, while Samsung still wants to deliver the new One UI 5.0 to all devices before 2022 ends.

Faster update deployment increases the risks of phone bricks due to critical bugs in the functionality. Hyesoon Jeong acknowledged this, saying that “a conscious decision was made to provide updates in the most reliable manner without compromising on pace.”
