Samsung’s lock screen notifications are now a sync between two features

Published

on

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Lock screen

The new OS version release has brought experience upgrades in the latest One UI, but things don’t always turn in the right direction, and the eventual outcome could make us lose some interesting features, which could get replaced with the new ones. Notification is a key to a good user experience, and One UI 7 has introduced new ways to improve notification visibility. Users can now select between Dot, Icons, and Cards to personalize the lock screen.

These terms are slightly different from the previous generation as they vary the amount of information you want to see when the phone is locked. However, some users found the new lock screen notifications less useful as the icons-only setup is no longer available in the new software.

For starters, as of One UI 6.x, Samsung phones used to show icons lock screen notifications. These icons appeared beneath the lock screen clock and expanded to full view on the user’s touch input.

One UI 6.x lock screen notifications icon

One UI 6.x lock screen notifications icon

On the other hand, One UI 7 treats lock screen notifications differently. For example, the Icons style shows notifications in the task bar, in a compact view. The Cards style reveals primary notification on the top and the others as icons underneath.

One UI 7 lock screen notifications

One UI 7 lock screen notifications

Still, some users say that the version without cards was easy to access and deserves a separate return to the operating system. We’ve gone through these random complaints and found that users are partially right, but there is an issue in understanding Samsung’s new lock screen notifications design.

We’ve found that Samsung hasn’t completely removed the notification icons in One UI 7. Instead, they’re now limited to the always-on display. If you have AOD enabled, the screen will reveal notifications icons just like the old days. This makes sense as the new AOD completely mimics the lock screen style compared to the dark ones in the previous devices. Also, if you want to get a perfect feeling, just disable the wallpaper from the AOD settings.

One UI 7 always on display with lock screen notification icons

One UI 7 Always on Display (AOD)

When you double-tap on the display, the phone transitions to a detailed view. The conclusion on this matter suggests that the lock screen notifications style is now synced between AOD and device wakeup. This move also makes sense as the majority of Galaxy smartphone users have AOD enabled.

If you are missing these notification icons, enable always on display. However, if AOD concerns you about the battery life, try to tap to enable, which won’t show it all the time.

Conclusion

While some One UI 7 users may not agree with Samsung’s new approach for lock screen notifications, we still recommend to get a familiar with the new combination of AOD and lock screen because it’s better than what it used to be. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung takes the user feedback and returns the previous look.

4nm chiplet success: 3 key reasons Samsung’s AI future looks brighter

Published

on

By

Samsung Foundry

A new report says that Samsung has successfully developed 4nm chiplet technology. This milestone reiterates that Samsung’s AI future is too bright, as this new technology enhances performance by connecting different semiconductors.

4nm chiplet success will likely strengthen Samsung’s competitiveness in the AI chip foundry business. The milestone has been achieved with the prototype product, with mass production all set to be commenced shortly.

3 reasons Samsung’s AI future looks brighter with 4nm chiplet milestone

Here are the 3 key reasons that make Samsung’s AI future look brighter due to their 4nm chiplet success:

1. Development and Evaluation

4nm chiplet utilizing UCIe standard signifies that Samsung’s prototype functioned correctly according to the design, a vital step towards mass production. This technological achievement is a direct enabler for high-performance AI chips.

2. Strategic Optimization

The successful prototype evaluation, which utilized Synopsys’ IP, showed a data transfer speed of 24 Gbps. This optimization and high performance are crucial for the complex and data-intensive demands of AI chips.

3. Advanced Nodes and Competitive Positioning

After 5nm chiplet and plans for 2nm, the 4nm chiplet tech positions Samsung favorably against rivals like TSMC and Intel. Notably, both Samsung Foundry rivals are also adopting UCIe in their advanced processes.

Samsung Foundry

Chips usually enhance performance by leveraging the reduction in circuit line width. Chiplet technology overcomes the issue by allowing the connection of different semiconductors to enhance performance.

The UCIe standard utilized in 4nm chiplet technology involves implementing functions such as CPU, GPU, and memory in a single semiconductor. Samsung would mass-produce using this SF4X process as early as the end of this year or early next year.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Telstra satellite messaging service in Australia

Imagine being stuck in the middle of nowhere with no cell signal but still able to call for help. Samsung’s new Exynos 2500 chipset makes that possible by connecting your phone to a satellite in Space for emergency messages.

Skylo, a company specializing in satellite-to-device tech, just certified the Exynos 2500. They worked with Samsung last year on the Exynos Modem 5400, and this new chipset is even better, faster, and more power-efficient.

Samsung fans would see the Exynos 2500 in the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7. Not every country will get the satellite feature, but it’s a huge step toward phones. Satellite connectivity isn’t a much-needed feature, but it must be supported.

Samsung’s first 3nm chipset, the Exynos 2500, uses global tech standards to link up with satellites orbiting Earth. It’s a big deal for emergencies, letting you send an SOS from remote spots where regular phone networks don’t reach.

Skylo also highlighted that its network covers 37 countries, including Iceland, and powers nearly 7 million devices. They handle satellite SOS messages almost every other day, showing how this tech is already saving lives.

Note that a new report from Analysys Mason praises Skylo’s dependable service. Unlike others, Skylo uses pre-approved frequency bands, so there’s no waiting for red tape to clear. This gets satellite features to users faster.
