Samsung November 2022 update still bricking some Galaxy Watch 4 units
Last month, Samsung released the GVI3 firmware update for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic smartwatches. Post-installation, some users reported that their smartwatch is not turning on after getting turned off due to battery discharge.
Seeing the reports, Samsung halted the GVI3 update rollout and promised to release a new build with fixes for the issue. As promised, the company started to push November 2022 GVK4 software update for the Galaxy Watch 4 series, which brings fixes for the not turning on issue.

Meanwhile, it looks like the latest firmware also lacks reliability, as reported by some users. While the November update appears to be fixing the Galaxy Watch 4’s bricking issue, some users still report that their smartwatch got bricked after installing the new GVK4 update.
Here is the November update changelog:
- Improved system stability and reliability
- A power operation-related stabilization code has been applied.
- As errors may occur during the update, please back up any important data before proceeding.
- How to back up : Galaxy Wearable – Watch settings – Account and backup – Back up data
As spotted by 9to5Google, “one user notes that their device restarted a few times, appearing to be boot looping, during installation, but did eventually load into the OS.” However, users are even discussing that the model manufactured around August 2021 is affected more than those released in later months.
