Furthermore, the first section of the Settings menu will provide you with options like:

  • Screen lock type: You can change the lock screen type of your phone or the pin, password, or pattern here. You can also enable Face to unlock or Fingerprint unlock.
  • Smart lock: When enabled, Smart Lock will keep your phone unlocked when it’s with you.
  • Secure lock settings: There are various smart lock screen features, which will offer you enhanced privacy on your phone.

Next, there are two new small pages including Edit Lock screen and Edit Widgets.

Edit Lock screen:

When you tap on it, your phone’s lock screen will appear for customization. It will let you disable any part of the lock screen for example the Clock, Notification icons, Contact information, and App shortcuts by tapping the “-” icon. Simultaneously, to edit that part, tap on the option.

Here, Samsung offers you a variety of clock-style options, the ability to change or remove app shortcuts, and choose the type you want to see notifications on your lock screen. There’s also a “Contact Information” option where you can ass a phone number or email address so that others can contact you if you lose your phone.

Meanwhile, when you tap on the Widgets option, you can choose what widgets you want to see when your phone is locked. You can also reorder those widgets according to your preferences.

One UI 5.0 further brings a new “Touch and hold to edit” feature. When you enable it, you will be able to directly edit your lock screen from the lock screen itself. However, if your phone is secured with a pin, a password, or a pattern, you will first need to unlock it.

Next to these, there are features like Always on Display and Roaming clock, which do not bring any notable new change with the new software update.
