Market research agency Canalys has recently published a new report citing that Samsung led the global smartphone market in Q3 2022 by grabbing a 22% share of the market.
With the highest shipments share, Samsung led the worldwide smartphone market, as per Canalys report in the third quarter (Q3 2022). On the other hand, Apple stayed the 2nd largest vendor, followed by Xiaomi in third.
Compared to the same period last year, Samsung recorded a growth of 1%, while, it was a good period for Apple as it grew its market share by 3%, to 18% from 15% in the third quarter of 2021.
Back in August, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable smartphones. The former comes with a starting price tag of $1,800, while the latter starts at $1,000.
In September, the US tech giant introduced the new iPhone 14 series, containing iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, whose prices range from $800 to $1,100.
Canalys also pointed out that the global smartphone market recorded its third consecutive decline this year, dropping 9% year-on-year, marking the worst Q3 since 2014, in Q3 2022.
“For most vendors, the priority is to reduce the risk of inventory building up given deteriorating demand,” said Canalys analyst Amber Liu in a statement. “Vendors had significant stockpiles going into July, but sell-through gradually improved from September owing to aggressive discounting and promotions. The pricing strategy of new products is cautiously crafted, even for Apple, to avoid significant pushback from consumers who now tend to be very sensitive to any price hike.”
Filmed by Galaxy S22 Ultra, ‘Jackals and Fireflies’ unveiling at Samsung Unpacked
Samsung partnered with Oscar-winning writer and director Charlie Kaufman to show how you can take advantage of Galaxy flagship smartphones’ camera capabilities. Kaufman took advantage of Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra’s filming features to create a short visual art film in beautiful, crystal-clear detail.
Titled ‘Jackals and Fireflies,’ the film is based on a poem by Eva H.D. who plays the role of the poet, narrator, and lead actor in this uniquely Kaufmanesque love letter to New York City. The Nightography feature of Galaxy S22 Ultra helped photographer to capture New York’s famous night scenes.
And interestingly, Kaufman’s ‘Jackals and Fireflies’ is set to be unveiled at the Galaxy Experience Space in San Francisco during the Galaxy Unpacked on February 1, 2023. Later on, Kaufman will also present the film in New York City.
According to Kaufman, shooting with Galaxy to be an “effective approach” for bringing the film to life, and is very happy with the final result, adding that “…the finished product is beautiful.”
