Smart TV: Tizen OS leaves Samsung-exclusivity, global expansion announced

Samsung is one of the leading brands of smart TVs along with smartphones as it offers different sizes of TVs for each price segment. Recently, the Korean tech giant announced its collaboration with leading internal ODM companies, by which non-Samsung smart TV can use Tizen OS.

This is the first time that Samsung is allowing TV consumers from companies other than its smart TVs to enjoy a premium experience based on Tizen OS. This partnership gives multiple TV brands access to the full world of entertainment offered exclusively on Samsung Smart TVs, while also allowing Tizen to leverage its expanding ecosystem to enhance its offerings.
Major international ODM (Original Development Manufacturing) companies such as Atmaca, HKC, and Tempo can now use Tizen OS in their smart TVs. Tizen OS for other smart TV brands including Bauhn, Linser, Sunny, Vipera, and more will be available with its new TVs this year in Australia, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, and the UK.
However, non-Samsung smart TVs that will be powered by TizenOS will follow the announcement of Samsung’s licensing program for the Tizen TV platform at the 2021 Samsung Developer Conference (SDC) to take benefit of TizenOS.
The Tizen OS-powered smart TVs will come with several industry-leading innovative features, content searchable tools, apps, and a modern user interface for the ultimate smart TV experience, in which the main keys are Samsung TV Plus, Univeral Guide, and Voice Assistant Bixby.
According to the Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, Yongjae Kim:
“2022 has been a memorable year for Tizen OS as we celebrate its 10th anniversary and the very first Tizen-powered smart TVs available from other brands. Starting with these new Tizen-powered smart TVs, we will continue to expand the licensing program and introduce Tizen OS and its ecosystem to more products and brands around the world.”

This 115-inch Samsung TV could shake up the entire premium market

The latest Samsung 115-inch RGB Micro LED TV is turning heads in the premium TV market. It’s a massive, premium display that might just challenge OLED TVs with its stunning visuals and possibly a friendlier price tag.
Here’s what you need to know about this game-changing TV.
Samsung is cooking up something big at its Vietnam factory – a 115-inch RGB Micro LED TV. Yong Seok-woo, their TV division boss, recently checked in on the pilot production. This TV upgrades its popular Neo QLED lineup with serious flair.
This beast uses red, green, and blue LEDs for backlighting, not the usual white ones. That means sharper colors and better contrast, thanks to more dimming zones. The company’s testing phase shows it’s serious about this technology.
Why it’s turning heads
Unlike Samsung’s pricier self-emissive Micro LED TVs, this one’s LCD-based with RGB LED backlighting. It doesn’t need the Quantum Dot sheet found in QLEDs, since those LEDs already deliver vibrant, true-to-life colors.
Analysts at Omdia think that it “eliminates the price premium.” They explained, “Typically, product categories newly introduced to the market are sold with a price premium, and latecomers expand the market by releasing products at relatively lower prices.”
Samsung is projecting this as a “value-for-money” option compared to their ultra-expensive Micro LED TVs. Hisense’s 116-inch RGB Mini LED goes for about $14,000, while LG’s 97-inch OLED costs $25,000; Samsung’s price could be a game-changer.
Set for a June launch, this 115-inch TV might soon come in 75-inch, 85-inch, and 98-inch sizes.

Galaxy S22 users lose in court – Samsung found guilty, but pays $0 in damages

A South Korean court ruled Samsung misled Galaxy S22 buyers about its GOS (performance throttling). While guilty of deceptive advertising, the company won’t pay damages, leaving many users disappointed with the outcome.
Around 1,800 Galaxy S22 owners sued Samsung, claiming the company hid how GOS affected performance. The Seoul Central District Court’s 21st Civil Division heard the case and agreed that Samsung’s ads were misleading.
Samsung misled, but pays no damages
The complainants said Samsung’s ads, which excessively flaunted blazing-fast performance, didn’t mention GOS’s limits. They argued this tricked them into buying and demanded 300,000 won each as compensation.
That said, the concerned court found Samsung’s ads misleading, making it seem like the Galaxy S22 had no speed caps. In truth, GOS throttled high-spec games, which could confuse buyers expecting full power.
But the court said there wasn’t enough proof that users lost money or suffered harm. Only a small group playing specific games faced slowdowns, so damages weren’t justified.
The ruling noted that GOS doesn’t affect most apps, so it’s not a dealbreaker for the average buyer. This undermined the plaintiffs’ claim that Samsung’s silence swayed their purchase.
Users are disappointed: Samsung’s guilty verdict hasn’t satisfied everyone, as no damages were awarded. The ruling sparks questions about how honest companies need to be in smartphone marketing.
Game Optimizing Service
GOS is a tool that keeps phones from overheating during heavy gaming. It limits CPU and GPU power, helping save battery and maintain smooth performance, but it can slow certain games down.
When Samsung rolled out the Galaxy S22 in 2022, GOS was locked on, unlike older models where users could turn it off. This frustrated buyers who expected top-notch speed from their phones.
Back in 2022, Samsung promised a software fix to let users adjust GOS settings. The update aimed to ease concerns and give people more say over their phone’s performance.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 teaser reveals Samsung’s boldest AI Camera yet

Samsung just dropped the latest Galaxy Z Fold 7 teaser that sheds light on its boldest AI Camera ambitions. The next-gen foldable phone is coming next month, with Samsung swiftly creating the hype ahead of a grand debut.
In the initial teaser, Samsung revealed the next Fold model’s Ultra specifications, including a larger display and a 200MP camera. Later, the company highlighted the slim and lightweight design that will set new foldable standards.
Now, in the latest, Samsung is hyping its AI Camera upgrade, debuting with the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Exact details regarding the functional upgrade are unknown, but the company is promising epic imaging experiences.
Camera upgrade beyond sensors
Samsung’s press release starts with a usual phrase, but this time, the hardware upgrade is included: “Today’s mobile imaging goes beyond just a high-quality lens or advanced sensor — it demands seamless integration of hardware, software, and AI.”
While the Z Fold 7 is getting a 200MP main camera, Samsung isn’t leaving the AI behind. The company reiterated its commitment to foster camera innovation as a holistic system, with advancement supported by “tightly integrated” techs.
Samsung’s approach to innovate both hardware and software (plus AI) pushes the Galaxy devices to innovative breakthroughs. The next Fold phone will empower users to capture, create, and communicate more meaningfully.
The Korean tech giant highlighted that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 camera will be coupled with new AI-powered features. The experience will go more intuitive with UI tweaks, which will turn what you see into understanding and action.
“As AI evolves from text-based prompts to multimodal understanding, Galaxy devices are becoming smarter — able to get what you’re looking at and respond to situations. The camera is at the heart of this transformation,” – Samsung.
The Galaxy Camera with AI features on a large-screen device will usher in epic photography experiences. This innovative approach would take the smartphone camera experience to a whole new level, pushing users to join the Fold club.
While AI will integrate more deeply with the camera, Samsung ensured there’s no lack of privacy and security. The press release reads, “innovation means nothing without trust, privacy is built into every layer, helping to ensure that data is protected at all times.”
Stay tuned. The camera will only get smarter — helping users capture life’s moments more vividly and make everyday experiences more seamless, personal, and impactful. The Ultra experience is ready to unfold.

Samsung Galaxy S26 prototypes to test 2nm Exynos 2600 soon

Samsung has started making prototypes for its new Exynos 2600, which could power the Galaxy S26 series. A Korean news report says this chip is a big deal for Samsung’s homegrown Exynos brand and shows off its 2nm process tech.
The Galaxy S26 series, expected to drop around February 2026, will likely use the 2nm-based Exynos 2600 processor. Chip production usually ramps up a couple of months before a phone launch to keep stock ready.
The new Exynos 2600 version comes hot on the heels of the Exynos 2500. Earlier this year, initial tests hit a 30% yield. Since last month, Samsung’s been pushing to get that yield over 50% without sacrificing quality.
System LSI and Foundry teams are working together to boost the performance and production reliability. The plan is to move to risk production by the end of 2025 by churning out thousands of chips to verify the reliability before mass production.
If the yield during risk production isn’t up to par or too many chips are faulty, mass production could hit delays. Last year, the Exynos 2500 struggled with 3nm yield issues, which kept it out of the Galaxy S25 lineup.
If everything goes well, full-scale production could start early next year.
Exynos 2600 is also a big moment for Samsung’s 2nm process, which this chip will debut. How it performs will shape what the industry thinks of Samsung’s tech. A solid showing could put Samsung’s 2nm process on the map.
For Samsung’s System LSI division, the Exynos 2600 processor is a must-win. This chip’s production progress will show whether the South Korean tech giant can hold its own in the competitive mobile chip game.
Expect Galaxy S26 or S26 Plus prototypes to benchmark with Samsung’s 2nm Exynos 2600 chipset in the next few weeks.
