Initial Story…
Recently, an unreleased Samsung smartphone with model number SM-S9180 passed China’s 3C certification. The model number of this test device, listed on 3C, suggests that it may be the Galaxy S23 Ultra, packed with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip and supports 25W fast charging.
According to the 3C certification, Samsung (China) Investment Co., Ltd. is the applicant for this Galaxy smartphone, which is produced at the Vietnam plant. Tipster DigitalChatStation also revealed that it’s the first handset spotted on the certification database with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
It’s important to mention that the existing Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging support. The 3C certification suggests the Galaxy S23 Ultra will offer just 25W charging support, however, the Korean tech giant might make changes in the details prior to the official launch.

Earlier, IceUniverse revealed that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be equipped with a 200MP image sensor with 0.6 microns (μm) pixels, a 1/1.3″ outsole, and an F1.7 aperture. It will be the first Samsung smartphone to feature such a higher resolution camera sensor.
Aside from this, the Galaxy S23 Ultra is rumored to have a body size of 163.4 × 78.1 × 8.9mm, packs Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and a 5000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Moreover, the overall body is likely to have a reduced curved display as well as an increased middle frame.

Samsung starts preparing One UI 7.0.1 for Galaxy Z Fold 7?

Samsung has reportedly started testing a new version of its One UI software for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, which could be One UI 7.0.1. The first One UI test build has recently surfaced online, showing that Samsung is working on the software for its next foldable phone.
A reliable tipster has spotted a Galaxy Z Fold 7 testing build on the Checkfirm platform. It indicates that Samsung has started working on a new foldable phone with updated One UI 7 software.
The test build for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is F966USQU0AYB3. This build appears to be for the US variant of this upcoming phone, likely on the AT&T network.

Earlier rumors had suggested that Samsung might skip One UI 7.1.1 and instead launch One UI 7.0.1 due to delays in rolling out the stable version of One UI 7. It now seems like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will both come with One UI 7.0.1, instead of the previously expected One UI 7.1.1.
However, Samsung has not officially confirmed the release of One UI 7.0.1 yet, so we should take this information with a pinch of salt. Still, it’s clear that both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature a new version of One UI.
We’ll have to wait for more updates from Samsung to know for sure when these devices will be launched and what exact version of One UI they will run. Stay tuned for more details.
One UI 7.0 delay could cause One UI 7.1.1 cancellation with Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE spotted in firmware leak, could launch with Flip 7

A firmware leak suggests that Samsung is working on an affordable foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip FE. The company has already confirmed the diversification of its foldable portfolio to reach more consumers and raise the segment.
To this end, Samsung is expected to launch an affordable Flip phone and a tri-fold foldable apart from the regular models. The Galaxy Z Fold SE may also get a successor, however, there’s currently no credible info about its existence.
Recently, an alleged Galaxy Z Flip FE has been spotted on the Samsung firmware server. This development indicates that the development of the company’s upcoming flip smartphone is progressing positively.
Samsung’s server listed a software build for a device with the model number SM-F761B. Currently, there’s no Galaxy device belonging to this model number. If decoded, it aligns with the rumored Galaxy Z Flip FE smartphone.
- F – Foldable
- 7 – Flip series
- B – Global variant
Notably, the Flip 6 is SM-F741, and the Flip 5 is SM-F731; so the upcoming Flip 7 would be SM-F751B. The leaked SM-F761B denotes the Flip 8, which doesn’t make sense at this point as the Fold 7 hasn’t yet been revealed.
The affordable Z Flip model may launch alongside the Z Flip 7. The devices may be unveiled around July this year. The company is also slightly tweaking the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 functions to improve the user experience.
The cheaper foldable may be equipped with an Exynos 2400. It’s the same chip used in the Galaxy S24 and S24+, which delivers decent performance and efficiency. The device is said to have the same screen size and OLED panel as the Z Flip 6.

Samsung under pressure as Huawei unveils revolutionary Tri-Fold phone worldwide

Huawei bringing its Tri-Fold phone worldwide is a severe threat to Samsung. Following its initial launch in September 2024, Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Tri-Fold has been announced in Malaysia (via HuaweiCentral), with sequential worldwide expansion likely.
Mate XT Ultimate is an immediate threat to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. The former features a futuristic dual-fold screen, while the latter boasts a book-type foldable design. Huawei’s Tri-Fold costs a whopping RM 14999 (around $3400) in Malaysia.
Samsung is working on a Galaxy G Fold with dual-fold screen technology. The company’s tri-fold device is said to feature a dual inward folding design unlike Huawei Mate XT Ultimate, which is comparatively more durable.
The Korean tech giant is rumored to unveil its tri-fold handset later this year or early next year. As Huawei’s product entered the global market, Samsung may have been feeling intense pressure given Mate XT Ultimate’s lead in the market.
This global reveal indeed puts pressure on Samsung’s product strategy. A tri-fold Galaxy is obviously in the works but a tentative release timeframe is unknown. However, we may shortly witness positive developments in the matter.
While Huawei nailed it with invention, the lack of Android/GMS is the biggest concern. Huawei claims to have a broad app ecosystem but the reality is different, the Android ecosystem is quite broad and connected with a vast audience.
It remains to be seen if the Mate XT comes with an EMUI based on Android 10. If it happens, the Tri-Fold device would run Android apps without Google services like Google, Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps, and YouTube.

Samsung Galaxy A36 official-looking images leak ahead of US launch

Samsung Galaxy A36 5G’s design has been revealed in official-looking images. Earlier, we saw a set of renders of the Galaxy A56, A36, and A26. Now, the latest leak showcases the only mid-ranger coming to the United States.
Recently, ytechb revealed official-looking images of the Samsung Galaxy A36 5G. It could be introduced alongside the Galaxy A56 and A26 next month. However, Samsung is expected to only bring the A36 to the US market.
The upcoming phone is shown in Black, White, Light Purple, and Green colorways. Samsung would market these hues with an “Awesome” prefix. The bezels are slightly thinner than the A35, while the chin is comparatively thicker than the side bezels.
In addition, Galaxy A36 5G retains a modern Infinity-O display. The rear side is getting a design revamp, bringing a dedicated camera island for the three image sensors to be placed, while the LED flash is located outside the island.

Samsung is expected to bring some new Galaxy AI features to the A56 and A36. The company has also trademarked “Awesome Intelligence” with authorities, which aligns with a potential debut with the upcoming Galaxy A phones.
Galaxy A56 will use a new Exynos chip, while the A36 is expected to feature a mid-range Snapdragon chipset. The performance will be superior on the former but the latter would have an edge over rivals with the Snapdragon chip.
Samsung hasn’t yet officially confirmed the upcoming A series phones. If history is any indication, the Galaxy A56 and A36 might be unveiled next month, featuring One UI 7 with Android 15, which is awaited by flagship models.
