When Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 launched, Samsung was aiming to sell around 15 million units of these smartphones by the end of this year. Meanwhile, leaving its ambitions, Samsung reduced the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 shipments target to its half.

Recently, Noh Geun-chang, head of Hyundai Motor Securities Research Center, said that Samsung’s foldable phone shipments are expected to be 10 million units this year. He further added that this target also includes models like last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Looking at the sale of Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 at the present time, it is predicted that the sale will reach about 8 million units only. However, that number is up 13% compared to last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3’s 7.1 million shipments, and that’s a good sign for the Korean company that wants to make foldable mainstream.

Foldable smartphones are still a market product with a entry rate of less than 1%, and it is reported that consumer opinion has weakened due to global economic uncertainty. Samsung says shipments of 10 million new foldable phones will be possible next year only.

Moving ahead, Samsung officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 smartphones on August 10. Be it software or hardware, the company has significantly improved the devices over their predecessor while maintaining a similar prices.

The Korean company was expecting big with these new smartphones. Unfortunately, they didn’t live up to Samsung’s expectations. Looks like it will still take some time for customers to adapt to the foldable smartphone and there are not many people who are willing to spend such a big amount on a phone, especially a foldable.
