Samsung One UI 5.0 RAM Plus Feature

Created by Samsung, the RAM Plus feature uses your Galaxy smartphone or tablet’s storage space to provide virtual memory. Using this feature, you can choose more virtual memory to allow more apps to stay open in the background. However, you can also keep the storage space free by choosing less virtual memory.

Let’s talk about all RAM Plus iterations

One UI 3.1

Samsung first introduced the RAM Plus feature with the Galaxy A52s 5G smartphone. The device came pre-installed with Android 11-based One UI 3.1, and the company expanded this feature to various mid-range and budget phones through OTA updates.

  • It had a fixed virtual RAM of 4GB, which was enabled by default.

One UI 4.0

With the One UI 4.0 release, the company delivered the RAM Plus feature to its flagship smartphones as well. The flagship devices got virtual memory based on their internal memory capacity, but, it was available in a limited amount.

  • There were negligible improvements in One UI 4.0’s RAM Plus over the initial one.

One UI 4.1

The One UI 4.1 version is also based on the Android 12 operating system, which takes the RAM Plus capability to a whole new level. This version brought the ability of customization with options including 2GB, 4GB, 6GB and 8GB, however, all options are not available for every device.

  • Customizable RAM Plus: 2GB, 4GB, 6GB and 8GB

  • Choose the desired optimization level

This feature allows for customization of photo attributes such as sharpness, contrast, and brightness. For example, selecting the minimum level results in more natural-looking images, while the maximum level increases detail and sharpness, which is ideal for zoomed-in shots. Notably, the quality optimization setting of these levels only affects Photo Mode.

If you enable Scene Optimizer, it automatically optimizes the color and contrast of pictures to make dark scenes look brighter, food looks tastier and landscapes look more vivid.

Galaxy’s Hotspot is unwell in One UI 6.1, Samsung pushes software fix

Samsung One UI 6.1 hotspot issue

Samsung Galaxy users have recently reported a change in the behavior of the mobile hotspot feature. Following the One UI 6.1 software update, the hotspot does not automatically activate in certain situations. This problem especially occurs when using Secure Folder or dual messenger functions.

The Korean tech giant has officially recognized this concern and confirms that the automatic hotspot feature may be interrupted under these specific conditions (secure folder, dual messenger). The company is preparing a solution for it and expects to release it in the next update.

However, they assure users that the hotspot can still be operated manually. Users can activate the hotspot without any hassle by going into the Settings menu. To turn on the hotspot manually, open Settings >> Connections >> Mobile Hotspot & Tethering >> Mobile Hotspot >> Turn it on.

Samsung is likely to address this in subsequent updates, but for now, manual activation is the quick fix. This temporary measure ensures continuous connectivity for Galaxy users until a more permanent solution is released.
