Samsung Lee asks Mexican Prez to support 2030 World Expo in Korea

Earlier, the South Korean president’s office announced that the Vice President of Samsung Electronics will be the country’s ambassador for the 2030 World Expo bid. Today, Samsung disclosed that Lee Jae-yong asked Mexican Prez Obrador to support the 2030 World Expo to be held in Busan.

The Korean tech giant’s boss explained that the Busan World Expo would be a venue to present visions and innovative technologies for a “better future for mankind.” Also, he has highlighted that Korea’s Busan is the best place to host the World Expo 2030.

Mr. Lee also explained local business of Samsung to Mexican Prez Obrador and thanked the Mexican government for Samsung’s support. In addition, Both of them also discussed mid to long-term cooperation between Samsung and Mexican companies.

Lee met Dutch PM, as well

On June 14, 2022, Samsung VC also met Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister, in The Hague and asked for support for the 2030 World Expo in Busan.

World Expo 2030

Four countries have submitted competing candidatures to organize World Expo 2030: the Republic of Korea (Busan), Italy (Rome), Ukraine (Odesa), and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh).

Meanwhile, the host country of World Expo 2030 will be elected by BIE Member States, gathered in a General Assembly set to take place in November 2023.
