Apple overtakes Android in the US, half consumers have iPhone

Samsung is the leader of the worldwide smartphone market and maintains its top spot in three of all four quarters. But, it’s not the same case if we talk specifically about the US market, as Apple is the biggest competitor of Samsung, which solely grabbed half of the market, reports Counterpoint.

There are various manufacturers that use the Android operating system, while Apple solely surpassed the 50% mark in the US, leaving the remaining for all other vendors including Samsung. A Counterpoint Research report suggests that Apple’s iPhones have reached 50% coverage in the United States.

It’s not about 2022 sold smartphones, but the report is based on the active number of users using smartphones powered by iOS and Android. The report meant that 50% of all USA users are using iPhones, while the remaining are using phones from different OEMs powered by Android.

Last time, Apple grabbed the same market share way back in 2007 when it released the first generation iPhone model in the US. Therefore, it’s unquestionably a big achievement for the Cupertino company, which shows the mood of the US people.

The US tech giant will launch the iPhone 14 series on September 7, which could include four models namely the standard iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Among them, the Pro and Pro Max models might feature notch-less screens.

Earlier, Ross Young from DSCC revealed that Samsung’s Display division is taking the lead in the panel shipment for iPhones. As per the info, Apple received 82% of panels from Samsung, 12% from LG Display, and the remaining 6% from the Chinese BOE.
